PSA info
#6662
Thanks, folks. Definitely some info in there I wasn't aware of. And some that's not a surprise - and definitely within the theme of "reserve sucks."
Fingers crossed that my time at a regional is limited; I'm the odd ball that just needs a couple hundred hours of SIC time as I sit with >1000 jet PIC, but less than 1500TT. Fingers *very* crossed.
For one of the specific questions, though, I think I asked it poorly. (Min day.) Aside from guarantee, what does "No minimum day pay for reserve pilots" mean from the PSA profile here on APC?

I have been following this forum for a few weeks now and I decided to join in the discussion. I am considering applying to PSA in May. I have prior 121 experience, but I have been out of flying as a job for about the last seven years. Any advice for an old guy would be appreciated. My biggest worry is the simulator. The last time is was in the sim was new hire training in the Jetstream at Flight Safety in St. Louis. It made me sick the first day.
Great insight on PSA in this forum.

Pilots are typically paid a minimum day guarantee (it's a little more complicated at PSA because of the carve outs for min day) so if you fly at all on a day you get paid min day or what you fly whichever is greater. On reserve you don't get that "privilege".
Enjoy!!!

Reserve only "REALLY sucks" if you are commuting. Once you figure out the game (after a few months) if you live in base it's not a bad gig. I used to bid down to reserve relatively often over a round 2 line for particular days off and flexibility. Of course these days by the time you figure it out you'll have a line.

That does lead to my "problem" though - I'll definitely commute. It's a PSA draw, having multiple direct flights available from my small market local airport. A necessary evil at this point; at least for short term. Now, if only someone would open a hub near Destin I could live in base...
Cheers!

It's been mentioned in this thread before, but seriously, can someone start a new PSA thread?
I understand this one doesn't have 1000+ pages, but it's also the only subforum that frequently won't load via app, webpage, movie or pc.
I know I can't be the only person having these problems.
