THIS!!
Envoy hires like crazy because of their bases are commutable. Yet we have to be the cheap ones and open ORF? Smh imagine being forced to upgrade then two legging to reserve in ORF. I hope someone tells this to Dion.

LOL...I kinda hopes it opens, then they realized they can’t staff it and then it shuts down so they can realize how bad they are at running an airline.

ORF makes as much sense as a base than TYS, yet TYS is very senior with absolutely no trouble staffing it at all.

There are small niche markets that make great little bases. There are 40-50 people in each seat that would like to live there, are very happy, and have a great quality of life. TYS is like that. ORF would be as well. That is a great town. Virginia Beach and Newport News close by, and you could easily drive in from Richmond or Elizabeth City, NC.

I could easily see people coming to PSA, moving to a place like Virginia Beach, being very happy with a 25 minute drive to work, and enjoying living on the coast.

But PHL will be the good, commutable base that people are looking for.

Does anyone know when this base announcement is supposed to happen?

Thats not how it works. They'd simply displace pilots if no one bid into it.

RUMOR: I've heard from several sources that the company is thinking about base locking people into DAY since there is TOO much turn over. I can't find the contract section to see if they can even do that. We are insanely fat in CLT.

If that rumor is remotely true they might do that to staff ORF.

That's why there is a bid system in place. Seniority works, but only if you let it work.
