It's fair if they make it the same for every vacancy. Changing the rules during play is what is not fair.

XJ can do whatever NWA tells us to do. And with the Delta NWA merger that includes what Delta wants as well. Not saying it is happening but something is cooking it seems like. And things floating around like why do we need to still train CRJ LCA's when the 900's will be spinning down shortly (29 out of 36 are here) and the 200's are staffed. And there is still room for more 900's depending on whose contract and what you are looking at. There are ton's of scenarios out there and you need to be a lawyer to figure them all out.

I seriously doubt this sudden increase in staffing has anything to do with the current delivery plan. The company has known for a long time and has been staffing for the fleet. This latest move has a sense of urgency and is probably reaction to something new.

Where are people going? A few trickling to Southwest is not going to create an all of a sudden need for more pilots. Nobody is hiring and what little atritian that we've got is not from senior folks. There are 5 less people on the list between the last two and I haven't moved one spot. I sit in the top half and most everyone below me has been hired in the last year and a half.

My guesses for these developments are:

We're getting at least some the Freedom planes, late this year, early next.
or
We're ramping up for being prepared for the potential hiring that could soon occur at the new Delta. That would allow for the flow to kick back in providing real consistent movement.
or
something none of us are thinking about.

76 seat AC currently operated
Mesaba - 36
Compass - 36
Comair - 14
Skywest - 17
Pinnacle - 7
Freedom - 14 = 124

JPWA = 120

So what makes us so special that we would get the 10 extra available? I'm sure Pinnacle and Republic are supposed to get 9 and 16 76 seaters respectively. I think predicting 76 seat growth is worthless at this point. All its doing its getting lame rumors floating around.

70 seat AC currently
ASA - 39
Republic - 16
Comair - 17
Skywest - ? ~30?

+ the 124(76 seaters) = 227 out of 255 possible 51 seat and above. If there is growth I think this is a more likely segment and not necessarily here at XJ.

Saab CA freezes have been released since January. It's been the same on every notice since. This entire year has all been the same. 07-20 was the last notice with the freezes. Ever since the two people with less that 2,000 TT got awarded 900 CA the freezes are gone.

Right now if you are the most senior person bidding you can be awarded a 900 CA slot. Explain how that is not fair?

I dunno if you know 405, but Freedom has lost the Delta contract. Those planes are owned by Delta and are going to be operated by other carriers. If those 14 planes are reassigned, there is no net gain in the 76 seat fleet. I don't think Mesaba is any more special than Pinnacle or Comair. I'm just saying that the numbers don't lie. Something is going on that is requiring even more pilots than anticipated. FA numbers are also being increased and now all of a sudden we're hiring saab and CRJ sim instructors as well as ground instructors. This is not normal operation for status quo.

This could all very well be just anticipation for the flow to start again. But it just seems rather odd that there is such urgency in this matter.

Plenty of FOs on the property can upgrade. Contrary to popular belief not all of our new hires were 200 hour wonders.
