Mesaba new hires

Maybe a litte of topic.. Was curious to know how long the furloughs at Mesaba lasted a couple of years ago?

I believe the first few guys were furloughed out of class in Oct 05, The first round of line pilots was out Jan 06. A very small amount recalled ( 6 I think) either Oct or Nov 06. Everyone else recalled Apr 07. If I recall correctly 226 total furloughed and about 75 took the recall.

Thanks, was just wondering how long a furlough could possibly last at a regional carrier. Im guessing were all gonna break records this time around.

What are you talking about they will be turning props or fan blades tomarrow with us. At least ACA is now Compass so go figure. HAve a good night and keep the blue side up.

Avroman - don't forget the multiple furloughs and recalls from 2001-2004. The first furloughs in Mesabas long history. That bring us up to your bankruptcy furlough timeline.

I am aware but I was hired just after that so I don't have all the details of those other than I believe only about 5 of those people that took recall at that time are still here today that I know of....

Anyone know why they are in need of so many reserves this week on the saab? I know guys in both minni and dtw that got junior manned this week..

It's a combination of the bad weather that really screwed up stuff (think lots of commuters stranded) from Thursday til Monday. And the typical Mesaba crew lack of planning department not having the flying spread out to allow proper reserves in each base. MEM Saab had excessive overstaffing this month, MEM jet is understaffed...... Not unusual for us here.

Before I get ripped apart for asking about a rumor I just want to state that I am fully aware of the state of our economy, how most rumors tend to not be true... etc, etc. However, I want to bring this to the attention of others on what I heard today, and maybe someone else has some more information..:
I had a friend who attended the FA interview 2 days ago. ST was there from HR and specified that they are now hiring 50 FA's for MSP, 30 for Detroit, and 30 for Memphis due to the fact that 'additional aircraft will be arriving on property.' She went to further state that during the presentation, ST mentioned that 'the pilots' had agreed to accept additional aircraft and that the orders will be/are placed (She couldn't remember the exact phraseology) and that they are hiring for those aircraft. In regards to when, how many, etc, they did not mention during the process.
I try to keep up with the information in regards to scope with DAL, news at XJ, etc and I found it weird that they specifically mentioned 'the pilots' had approved the acceptance of these additional aircraft. Didn't something just change in regards to DAL being able to put 20 more aircraft with 77 seats on the line, contingent upon a no furlough clause in there contract?
I feel it is also important to mention that my friend is not the type to make up stuff, exaggerate, etc. If anything maybe she just misunderstood what HR was passing along to them. I also want to make it clear that I was not there and I am simply passing along what was mentioned to me.
