got word today during RGS that about 60 + some word of mouths were interested in halftime lines, and that for every halftime line there has to be a TOWOP offered (including extended towops), or vice versa, didnt quite get that part.....its not a done deal by any means, just on the table for the company to look at. keep the fingers crossed

I heard it was going to be around for our June bid. I guess we will wait and see.

BTW...has anyone seen the new pics of 901 on MyMesaba? What's with the crooked pictures? That's annoying. Hold the camera straight! haha...
In order to have movement we need a vacancy as well or no one moves anyways.

I understand that. I will rephrase.... If there was a vacancy put out for 5 new MEM 900 FO positions that would be great for some 200 FO's because they (if their seniority permitted) would take it up and head down there. That would let 5 people "move" up on the 200 FO side.
I also understand that there is no movement in over-all company senority if there aren't guys moving up and out of the company. Didn't think I had to be that specific in my previous post.

I do not know why we cannot do base trades without vacancies. Friends at other airlines can do exactly that. You just find someone in another base that wants to trade, then post it in the crew room. If someone senior to you wants to take the base trade, then they can. I know there is all this talk about circumventing seniority, but if you do something like this then it does not matter, and everyone is happy in a time of little/no movement.

Maybe it is just too simplistic?

Edit: Of course you would have to stay in your equipment/seat.

I imagine the problem would be for the people who get bumped back a bid position because a more senior guy/gal trades to their base.

In fact I'd guess that half time lines will actually be too popular and end up denied for at least some people.
I know a lot of guys are dying to get out of the pool and towel off, but man do I have a predicament if, by some miracle, things pick up before November.

I'm flying on a contract...it's not a PFT gig, but if I leave before the end of my contract/before flying 500 under contract, I am responsible for my training costs and all wages paid as monthly guarantee that were not "earned" through actual flight. I don't have a problem with this in and of itself; I have a history for honoring my agreements and my client/employer has a good reputation within the industry...that being said, I sort of shudder at the thought of not being a free agent on the day that HR calls and says the words class and date.

Don't think I'm not wishing the best for everyone else in the pool; I really hope things turn around for us...but I'm going to be kicking myself if I have to turn the gig down after all the months of 'wading'. Oh well, if that happens, I hope some of the guys I rapped with during the Fall/Winter 08 hiring cycle will let me know how it all goes for them. I'll be making the best of things in GA...that's where my heart is anyways.

why would that be a problem, that is how the seniority system works

I remember several months ago they had a reallignment award allowing guys to switch bases

I meant to add to that, it's no different than what could happen from any other vacancy award. So, it's not really a problem, just the only counterpoint I could think of.

Is there a reason they haven't released a vacancy to fill areas that are in need of FOs and/or Captains?
