I think in the future airlines will shy away from the guys that got hired at a regional with 300hrs, I would much rather hire an individual who spent over a 1,000 hrs flying out of pure enjoyment.................than maybe they got some turbo-prop experience, than to a jet, I would much rather have that individual fly for my airline than someone who got his ratings in 2 months then got their job flying a jet with 300hrs, cause we all know these guys think they deserve it, after all............. they "put in their time"................but then again I could just be biased cause I am one of the pilots above.................you guys that know me, know which one
Flame away..............but I truly think a majority of HR likes people that have a more well-rounded flying background, as opposed to someone who knows very little other than gear up/down...............

There is a shortage of pharmacists; my good friend from college is married to one. She got a 20k signing bonus for a one year contract with 110,000k starting pay and she hadent taken her final tests. Until I see something like that in aviation I call bs. You can talk until your blue in the face but I won’t listen.
The airlines have overcapacity right now, (to many seats to fill). The regional illusion of a shortage is for outsourced jobs. In the big scheme of things our industry is due for consolidation i.e. mergers. The regional’s are just trying to fill planes that are used to outsource major flying.

No flame. I just believe that most HR people don't know what a "well rounded" flying background is. There would be many definitions.

HR would think that the guy who wasted years as a bush pilot and then building skills as a single pilot IFR night cargo guy wasn't trying all that hard or that there was something wrong with them.
Why would an airline prefer someone who has tasted real flying? All they need is meat in the seat and what is better than a 300 hour human automaton. Real pilot skills are not needed nor required anymore.

Hi!
2006: Boeing sold the most planes ever.
2006: Dassault sold the most planes ever.
2006: Bombardier sold the most planes ever.
2006: Embraer sold the most planes ever.
2006: Cessna sold the most jets ever.
2006: Beechcraft sold the most jets ever.
2006: Gulfstream sold the most jets ever.
2006: Airbus either had their best year, or was close.
Virtually EVERY jet manufacturer had their best year, and I believe that 2005 was their 2nd best year.
This does NOT take into account the VLJ boom.
Jet Blue, Southwest, Delta, Net Jets, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, the Japanese carriers, ALL the Indian and Chinese carriers:
They're all experiencing less than optimal recruiting situations. Now. Today.
With UAL and NWA to hire soon, with UPS, USAir, FedEx, and AA behind them, what is going to happen when EVERYONE is hiring, and all these new jets are coming on line???
Who is going to fly all these new planes? We can't even fly the ones we have now.

Personally APC should charge him hourly rates for the Therapy he receives from posting on this forum.
Personally, I am glad he is happy leaving the Life in the hills of SEA.
I have flown with Angry, Unhappy and disenfranchised people before. They are no fun to be with.
