Straight from RP:
  • No new crew base at this time.
  • BOS base will be re-evaluated in early summer.
  • Vacancy bid will probably be out late next week.
The reason for no new crew base is because of the economy and the uncertainty of our level of flying after august. Once they get the fall schedule, they should be able to determine if we can open a BOS base.

If I may say something Comair guys, I wish you the best of luck. I think there is a time that you just have to let things go and if Delta is still ****ed at that strike and taking it out on you then they are the ones to blame. I hope this downward slide you have been on stops and turns around.

I think the extra flying has slowed our downward slide. Any increase in flying is a good thing in my eyes and it gets us closer to recalling our furloughed pilots.

Our fearless leader said in one of his meetings that are now on video on EPIC that we will take any flying we are offered no matter where it is, and he also said that it is not always the carrier with the lowest costs that gets the flying, but the carrier that has their costs "in line".

Makes sense! The BOS flying is too unpredictable, it is only a focus city for Delta and I'm expecting to see a decrease in flying out of BOS come this fall, especially when Southwest moves in. Delta only cares about the international stuff, because that is where the money is, all the domestic flying is getting passed down to the regionals or reduced. The fact is RP and Comair doesn't even know what's going to happen! Furloughing, recalling, opening/closing bases all costs money!

Like I said before he told me that they were projecting a 2500 hour reduction in flying in the fall (Sept.)

If you think about it, a bid now will displace a bunch of people and tick off a lot of guys that will notice a big change in their QOL. So run a bid now, then open a new base in the fall and displace some more people and you have yet another significant staff reduction. Guys will leave. If the economy is looking any better, or if businesses start hiring again, I think many will throw in the towel.

So when RHS kicks in, do the baggage performance numbers come off of our charts?
