I love it! I love hearing while out flying that Comair is saving Delta because Comair turned a profit and Delta didn't.....Different pockets of the same pair of pants (or Jacket, shirt, or shorts).
We get a little extra scratch from MRO which is also a wash since most of it comes from Delta through Mesaba. Our line maintenance MRO at GSO, CVG, JFK, and BOS (from non w/o regionals) and Air Wisconsin engine repair work is our only true profit not traced back to Delta. With the CS contracts transfering over to REAS at the end of the month with CS, it takes away a little bit from our profit margin. Any transfer of aircraft leased by Comair would require approval by the leasor. We actually had Bombardier refuse a transfer of one of our -200's to Pinnacle. It's still flying for us today! That's also the reason they didn't take away more -700's on that last RFP. Delta could only award those that were leased by Delta, which left the 15 leased by Comair.
Very true. It basically comes out a wash, but Comair is required to pay the bills on all aircraft leases, and to vendors which comes out of our profit margin. It's basically Delta paying us an allowance!

I heard a rumor that Air Wisconsin was unhappy with there service they are getting from ExelTech, they beat us out on the heavy contract. rumor is the contract is subject to cancelation after the end of the year. Any word if we are gonna try to get that work??
Allen and Ng4 are actively marketing our MRO work to other CRJ operators. If Air Wisky is unhappy with their current heavy contractor, then I'm sure they're looking. It's all a matter of pricing and beating out other MRO facilities. I know they're not looking to start a full blown MRO service like Delta Tech Ops does.

I'm just passing along the information here from the fourth quarter 2008. The report says that we have some of the highest unit costs; but it goes on to say that we have the highest revenues and yields. It also contains a direct link to the DOT's RITA report where you can see the raw data first hand.

First quarter 2009 results below.
BTS | First-Quarter 2009 Airline Financial Data: Network Airlines Report Sixth Consecutive Quarterly Loss Margin
Look at tables 4 (Profit Margin), 16 (Unit Revenues) and 20 (Passenger Yield). We lead the pack in the regionals. It's very telling.
