Contract says you will go back to the base you were furloughed from. So on the company behalf you are screwed per diem and housing.
I can almost see it being managable if you only have to do a few weeks of retraining. What if you are in the group that is going to have to retake the entire 2 month training class? Do they really expect people that were furloughed do cough up that kind of money when they very well could have not had a job for a year and a half?

apparently they do. Remember they were willing to withhold are paychecks for uniform balance and some people didnt even get a check to feed themselves.

If you were CVG based before your furlough and you would be recalled right now, you would actually go to JFK. My guess is DTW will be like JFK and be the junior base. I believe CVG will always be senior. If you really want DTW, you can put it in your standing bid.

People that are getting recalled right now shouldn't even mess with their standing bid, because I believe a lot of current folks want to go back to CVG and you want to get displaced to DTW to get the moving expenses and moving days.

I was furloughed from cvg and in my recall letter said that I would be based in JFK. I just saw the follow up letter and it said that all recalled pilots will be getting a hotel and per diem (they assume none of us will be able to hold CVG).

It has nothing to do with that! For those getting recalled, I suggest you study your contract!

That's going to be a nice paycheck.

That is the vacancy AWARD from the last bid, not a new bid reflecting the base changes.

The thing is that I wouldn't be moving it's just an easier commute. I'd rather have my desired commute and base in order than risk going with the wrong base and be stuck with a crummy commute until the next bid cycle just to get a few extra days and a couple of bucks for a move that isn't occuring.

I do think that DTW will be like JFK in regards to seniority.

Guys, how about one thing at a time. No need to drive ourselves crazy with what we can/cannot get while we are "not officially in" yet.
Anyhow, just got a phone call from HR notifying me I'm in the June 13th class. I'm driving from MCO, so if any of you is in same class and would like a ride (MCO, GNV, ATL, CHA, or somewhere nearby), PM me. You'll get 5 weeks access to a vehicle while there (lord knows I'm going to need a DD on mondays after one dollar margaritas).
