nothing official yet... they only have one official reply back so far in the mail because of the holiday weekend (was a voluntary furlough bypassing)
they seem to think that another round seems likely, and they cited that when they were short 5 pilots they ended up sending another 14 letters...
completely unofficially... but since they are trying to get 72 minimum recalls out of 100 letters, i guarantee a second wave of recalls... so if you're close to the cutoff line expect a phonecall in the next couple weeks... all you need is for more than 13 of the 85ish nonvoluntary furloughs to resign for them to start round 2... given the 30ish percent rejection rate they said on the phone (i think the number they used was 31.8) they will probably end up at least 12-13 pilots short, which would probably provoke a second round of recalls in the 20-25 range minimum... so if you're in the top 125 on the list, you're comming back for one of those class dates...

i think the call went very well and answered a lot of questions... hopefully things work out with the bypass option even though they think it won't go through... since they're almost guaranteed to start a second round of recalls, maybe they'll have enough time to negotiate it...

I wouldn't waste the time. I mean I know these guys try hard and all but... there isn't anything you already don't know.

i said they answered a lot of questions... i didn't say the questions were helpful or even intelligent (some of them were moronic)... questions were asked, then they were answered..
Ok... I'm as big of a MP fan as anyone, but gotta say I was a bit irritated that he suggested to one guy to take the full 10 days to mail back his recall letter (which he still hasn't received) to see if the union gets a bypass option. I'm sorry. I'm all for a bypass option, but I think it's pretty clear that it's NOT going to happen. Sooo... for people like myself who are waiting on a possible second wave of recalls this just delays something even longer.

I'm waiting all ten days, and I wish that I had more time... sorry that its an inconvenience to you... but he has all ten days contractually and he should take all ten if needed, I don't think its going to effect you anyhow, How many do you need to turn it down? I doubt that people waiting ten days will have any effect on if and when there is a second wave. I see all you guys way down the list whining about a bypass and just wanting people to quit, by not having a bypass many that would otherwise bypass are not, everyone should hope for it, it will only get people back faster, I know of a many more that would bypass who are now coming back because we lack a bypass option which they would take and now must burn bridges that they would otherwise not at good contract jobs overseas and in the US, jobs in which some of you could take advantage of in the future if you don't get recalled. I doubt these jobs would be available if a bunch of Comair furloughs just bounce on their commitments because they don't have a bypass option. It will only make finding a flying job for some of you that much harder especially when a bunch of our guys ditch their current commitments, who would want to take another chance on a furloughed comair guy? Bypassing is a huge risk as well because you may never be called again, and many of you would be back in the saddle much faster if this works out. It sounds doubtful yes but bypass option is good for everyone including the company and I don't see how people don't see that, I have many friends who were not called in the first wave as well, I hope that everyone gets to come back as soon as possible.
