Flybye:

Keep driving. Remember where they had recurrent ground classes? Everything's in that building (but on the back side), or near the crew room in Terminal B.

It only took a couple of months to get my training records last time I asked, so you might want to call a Chief first.

That's because they were sold off in a filing cabinet at the big garage sale last year.

(I know there was a firestorm about using that word but I really think he is mentally challenged. Forest gump x 10 -esque.) I can't begin to describe how clueless he sounds. And a captain no less. I guess you have to be that dumb to stick around.

p.s. Another pet peeve, he and the comair fo both did. Listed about 2 hours before the flight. REALLY? There is one flight a day from
Pdx to dtw. You didn't know you were going to be on it? I could have went to Seattle.
What a terrible tragedy. I am honestly amazed that more people are not showering you with sympathy as you have clearly been dramatically and thoroughly screwed over in your attempt to secure your free flight to your vacation. I feel better that you can take comfort in the fact that you are so much smarter than him (or at least you are not retarded like him). After all, he just works and contributes to society while you make the world a better place by b*tching about your inabilty to take advantage of your free airline flight. God speed John Glenn.

Wrong on all points. I was commuting to work. My "free" airline flight was not provided by Comair.. and it was not "free". I earn it.

Jesse,

Congrats on finding another flying job, but I don't see why this is such a big deal.

I often get knocked off DAL jumpseats by Delta guys who show up at the last minute. Part of the wonderful world of commuting.

The Comair captain, regardless of how much of an imbecile he might/might not be, got it because he has a higher priority than you. But of course you knew that.

You say there's only one flight a day PDX-DTW - what was your backup plan?

You say he's stupid to stay at Comair this long. Perhaps. Either he'll stay a captain, get downgraded and/or get furloughed. If he does lose the left seat, he'll never find a job that pays anywhere close to what he currently makes. Most guys are choosing to make as much as they can, then figure out what they're going to do after they lose the seat.

But on the plus side, maybe he'll be your F/O someday...

Fuel Truck Stages Standoff With Plane - News Story - WCTI New Bern

CARTERET COUNTY -- It was a standoff that could have had explosive repercussions. It was a standoff that a local business owner described as "regrettable."Southern Air at MRH owner Ryan Segrave said that despite the possible explosive situation, he doesn't think safety was an issue when an employee of his purposely used a jet fuel truck to block the exit of a running plane.Pitting jet fuel against spinning propellers was a standoff that was created over just $85 -- a facility fee that all planes are charged whenever they land at an airport. The Ford truck with a fuel tank as its payload sat about 20 feet in front of the whirring propellers of a Beechcraft Super King Air 200, as shown in video and the accompanying picture. The plane seats 11, according to flightaware.com.A Southern Air at MRH employee positioned the truck Sunday morning to enforce the airport facility fee. The plane's pilot was trying to fly off and avoid the facility fee for the second time in a week, Segrave said.Despite Segrave's take on the situation, at least one pilot disagrees with his take on the level of safety of such a maneuver."When you park 1,200 gallons of jet fuel in front of a plane, it only takes common sense to know that it's a dangerous situation," said a locally-based corporate pilot, who did not want to leave his name. "It was incredibly unsafe."Southern Air at MRH runs ground operations for Michael J. Smith Field, the airport serving Beaufort and Morehead City.Denard Harris, after stepping off the plane Sunday, watched as the truck -- with red stickers reading "flammable" -- was wheeled in front of the plane.Harris called the sight "frightening.""We were definitely shocked at how close the truck was to the plane," Harris said. But Segrave said safety was not compromised because blocks, called "chocks," were on either side of the plane's front wheel, limiting the plane's movement.Harris ended up paying the fee himself, allowing the plane to leave.Ken Lohr -- chairman of the Beaufort-Morehead City Airport Authority, which owns the airport -- said he is "disappointed visitors would be treated like this."Lohr said it's Southern Air at MRH that makes the rules on the ground, not the airport authority. The plane is owned by Sky High Air of Orangeburg, S.C., according to flightaware.com. That pilot, Chad McLeod, did not return a calls for comment.Safety risk or not, Sunday's situation has propelled a change in policy for Southern Air. If pilots refuse to pay a fee in the future, employees at Southern Air will call police instead of intervening, Segrave said.

I don't think so. Southern Air operates 777's and 747's. Don't know if they have a King Air.

I'm getting quite a chuckle reading the "Pinnacle/Mesaba List Is Out" thread.

2008 hires arguing because they won't upgrade right away, 2002 hires arguing that a hundred junior guys are ahead of him, some other guy is griping because he lost 8% seniority on the new list, etc.

Show them where they'd fall on the unmerged Comair list and they would see what a real regional but rape looks like.

I guess it's true - pilots can't be happy until they have something to complain about.
