Single carrier would be the right thing to do. But the only union that will push it is the Teamsters (and they got, ref Atlas/Polar).

The test for each pilot should be "vote as if this is going to be your last airline".. Somebody mentioned that we went from 6 legacies to 3. What would you do if you were stuck in PDT for the rest of your career?
Please vote this one down.. You are worried about 2017? Who knows where we all be in 3 years..

Tell me about it. What did everyone expect..LCC rates to fly a 70 seat jet? Keep dreaming...the problem is unrealistic expectations and too much anti-company sentiment. The baseline was set and they will go elsewhere. If we can't manage to seal this up, I'm sure many will be inclined to follow that stability.

If this does pass hopefully you guys realize the new PDT will look nothing like the current one. Don't expect AAG to have you guys running 175s or even 700s from SBY, MDT, CHO etc... If you live in any of these places which a lot of the senior pilots do get ready for a 2 leg commute to DFW, MIA, or LAX or a move to CLT. These markets are built for dashes and other props. They won't work as outstation bases for a jet.

I think it's obvious to the pdt guys that the route structure will change. A very large number of them have been begging for hub bases for years. And the TA guarantees continued Dash flying for the guys that have lived in SBY, CHO, EWN forever. The NC has tried to take care of everyone. The question is not the route structure, but are the pilots willing to play ball with the new industry standard (thanks PSA) to secure a future.

1992. ALPA panicked when it looked like the single carrier case for the 4 wholly owned USAir regionals was going to turn into one involving 5 airlines. For the two decades since then ALPA appears to have been driven by a determination to avoid any single carrier issues that might impede the carrier advancement of various ANG/Reserve buddies.

BINGO. ALPA has failed in regards to this issue. They never supported single lists because the mainline pilots would never accept the unwashed masses from the regionals. ALPA had the opportunity to fix this issue with USair and Delta and the wholly owned carriers, but they bowed down to the mainline interests instead....
