If pilots are letting people walk over them for that no wonder management has there way with us.

I have found fellow crew members complain about me:

taking the big room
taking the good side of the hall
taking the room on the good floor
being too far away from a female's room (I wouldn't hear her cries for help)
being too close to a female's room (I might drill a hole between our rooms)

I have had one CA tell me:
I MUST have a wake up call
I MUST sleep during a stand up
The FAA says 8 hours, the company 12 hours, but on his trips it is 24 hours
Never, EVER sign the sheet before the CA.

Some folks need to get a life.

Never try to reason with an FA that has a seniority complex. It's like trying to reason with a crying infant. I kindly remind them of the chain of command, and how they fall below the FO, and leave it at that.

You're off duty, and off payroll by the time you get to the van. Do whatever you want to.

One CA tried to manage my rest period (and the FA's) re. alcohol. HIS policy (applied to all crew members) was 16 hours or therabouts (company policy = 8 hours). I took him aside and explained that my hourly rate was $40...if he wanted to me live the 14 hour overnight on his terms he would need to open his wallet and fork over 28 crisp $20 bills.

He sputtered some crap about PIC authority and told him to call the CP (whom I know) and have the CP call me if needed. End of story

You are correct sir, once you walk away from the plane, it is your time. The hotel van is anyones territory. I have seen captains try and exercise their off duty authority and make fools of themselves.

Word, the PIC is in charge of the plane....he is not in charge of what I do off duty, unless it violates SOP's or FAR's.

That, my friend, is awesome. It is always nice to put somebody in their place that truly deserves it. Let me buy you a beer. Only, of course, if it is more than 16 hours from duty

Why not? Is there a reason not to help?
