Seriously, no disrespect to any FAs on this board that are training to be pilots, but uh... Even "senior" flight attendants do not have the education, experience, and level of responsibility that the FO has. Why would anyone let those roles get confused? If an FA rudely tries to pull a seniority attitude with you, tactfully remind them that you like your sprite with ice. But if they are true professionals, then by all means help them whenever you have the chance.

One CA tried to manage my rest period (and the FA's) re. alcohol. HIS policy (applied to all crew members) was 16 hours or therabouts (company policy = 8 hours). I took him aside and explained that my hourly rate was $40...if he wanted to me live the 14 hour overnight on his terms he would need to open his wallet and fork over 28 crisp $20 bills.

He sputtered some crap about PIC authority and told him to call the CP (whom I know) and have the CP call me if needed. End of story
That's (sort of) hilarious. I had a captain try the same thing once....it was a long four day trip. He's actually sort of a nice guy, but unfortunately has developed a reputation that makes people dread flying with him. Not sure what base you are in, fortunately most people in DEN are fairly laid-back.

If I was her, I would then look you right in the eye and ask why you were willing to take a regional pilot job and contribute to the reduction of wages in your profession. Not to mention that the manager of the McDonald's you stopped at on the way to the airport probably makes more than you did for at least the first few years of your 'professional' airline career.

Grow up.

I laughed when I saw this post; it usually takes something pretty fresh for me to actually chuckle from serious text on the web, but I gotta kick. I almost look forward to an encounter like that someday, just to use the above response with poise.

I'd hasten to add that I'd want an unopened can.

Totally know what you mean. At Colgan the flight attendants have to straighten things up themselves after the last flight of the day (flip seats, clean seat pockets, take out trash and ice, dump hot jugs). Well we have a couple incompetent slooooooow FAs who literally take 30 minutes to do the whole thing. I started helping out the FAs that I like and also so that I don't have to wait 30 minutes to go home... after the last leg all you want to do is run home, you know? It's not like I'm getting paid after we block in. So anyway, I started noticing that the FA started getting slower.. and slower. Like, I'd take out the trash and ice and dump the hot jugs and mind you this is AFTER I've done my own walk-around... and she's JUST starting to clean the seat pockets. One night she actually told me after I did the walkaround, "The hot jugs have water in them." (meaning that I should dump them.) I had no problem helping them out before without ever being asked, but after she said it like it was my JOB I was so turned off. This is what happens when you help them out too much.. they EXPECT it of you. Now I tell myself that I'm not going to help that thankless youknowwhat, but every night I find myself standing around waiting for her slowa$$ to finish her job I just get so exasperated that I end up helping her do her job.

I had a FA ask me what she was supposed to do with the bag of semi-melted ice. I've seen the ice thrown out the service door (not saying I like it, but hey it works), so I said "throw the ice out through the service door." She didn't get to this right away, however, as I was making my way around the nose to the right side of the airplane, the ice comes flying out, still in the bag.

Glad to provide a chuckle. You should get another laugh when you see their reaction after you use that line tactfully.

Some people are smarter than others. Seems like SAABarooski is right about some FAs.
