7 years without a contract. Opening up closed sections less than 12 hrs after closing it during the most recent negotiations. Must have been nice getting 150 hrs of pay for doing nothing.

And no I am not affiliated with the SLI. Just a concerned line pilot.

No. Why is it that anytime the company tries to throw a bone to the people on the bottom of the totem pole, the guys higher up see it as a chance to help themselves? A little selfish if you ask me.

Reminds me of when the pay raise for 1st year pay was turned down. ( I think that was the situation)

Because they didn't work at an airline that was owned by Pinnacle Corp.

You really should read your first paragraph, stop, take a breath, and then read the last two...they are very contradictory to each other...

That's why this profession is doomed. All the money goes to the top, however, management eliminates those jobs. Then all that's left are the food stamp jobs.

Well I see it as that MOU as the first step toward fixing this whole mess of a career.... It was recognized that pilots from both sides were now one in the same and were given credit as such..
Also at Mesaba if you started in a different department then became a pilot you got to keep your original hire date for your seniority to use for travel passes. (back when we had travel worth using) I.E. A 2005 pilot hire would be senior to the 2006 pilot hire for upgrade and monthly bidding (but they were hired as a rampie in 2004) but if they both showed up to nonrev to Vegas the 2006 pilot hire would go first based on the extra year worked with the company overall...

Yeah. Tell that to the Pinnacle ALPA folks in 2007 when management proposed pay increases for first year and second year payrates. It was immediately turned down by our union, to stand in unity and gain greater leverage. We got neither. Accepting that pay increase would have improved my W2 for 2007 and 2008. Interestingly, this same union tried to (and did) tie the TA1 bonus to W2 wages earned in the years prior. What a joke. Intentionally screwed the junior guys not once, but twice. No wonder TA1 was turned down. I know I voted no more so to protest the selected bonus methodology as opposed to TA1 itself. It was the only way we as FOs could have had our voices heard to our union. Emailing, calling reps worked to only bring it up at a meeting, at which point they turned down all other options and kept up the W2 method. The only other option was to vote no.

Anyway, remember, Pinnacle and Mesaba are still two different companies, even if owned by same holding company. Pinnacle's union needs to look at our best interests, just as the Mesaba union has been looking out for their owns best interest. I have a HUGE problem when my union works in a longevity increase for XJ pilots, while giving up the fight and accepting that our Pinnacle pilots will not have their longevity adjusted from sim date to class date DOH. It is pure BS. They should have taken a stand for US first, and told management that nothing else is up for discussion regarding seniority or longevity unless they first come to the table to adjust OUR Pinnacle longevity. Our union needs to fight its own battles before fighting for yours.

Once Pinnacle started hiring in Summer 2010, we received XJ furloughs as newhires, but with longevity credit, while newhire off-the-street pilots did not get any credit. Many Pinnacle newhires from 2010 were furloughed from other airlines too. How are they any different? Some of them had been in the industry a lot longer than a 2008 furloughee, but once they started at Pinnacle, they got no favoritism, no break, no credit.
They only got the time credit towards longevity after the purchase date. So, we are one airline as of July 2010. The list just aren't combined yet, that's why they get the longevity. This is an easy one to explain, if PNCL didn't buy XJ, the furloughs wouldn't have gotten that MOU deal. ShyGuy, better get ready for a long career of disappointments welcome to 121 aviation.

Most of my PO'd moments have come from our union decisions, not management. Lets see, turning down pay increases for FOs to gain leverage they never got, tying TA1 bonus to wages earned in the years past, getting (approving) XJ pilots longevity credit, while accepting our management's statement that they cannot afford to adjust our longevity by 2 months from sim date to class date DOH. etc etc etc

I don't know. Who do you work for? That should answer your question. Are a XJ pilot, Pinnacle pilot, or.....?
