I'm sure the next several posts will try to justify why you voted yes knowing 1400-1600 of you WILL be furloughed. I'm sure those S3CR buddy passes for 2 years will make up for all those pains!

 

You are wrong. Our management tells us constantly that we must "compete" with the other carriers in our segment not only for the flying we currently do, but new flying. We cannot compete with your new lowball contract without taking concessions ourselves. Your -900 Captains will now top out at $87. Ours top out at $108. Do the math!

And to prove you're wrong, our management has already notified the l-XJT side that they intend to negotiate an "industry standard" CRJ-900 rate. Their contract stipulates binding arbitration on new aircraft rates if expedited negotiations fail. Do you not think an arbitrator will look at your abysmal rates and cram them down our throats?

Thanks for nothing Pinnacle. Thanks for rear ending all of us in the segment of the industry that can least afford it. Thanks for taking food out of my kids mouths just so you can hang on a few months longer. Don't ask me for any favors.

I would vote no. If I were one of the 60% getting furloughed I'd vote "hell no". This job is hardly worth what I make now, much less a massive pay cut. I have a little self respect left. Pinnacle is full of Colgan guys so that explains quite a bit right there. They were used to slumming it. Peanuts for an 18 month upgrade right guys? Are the majors calling you yet?

For whatever reason you got to the new low Pinnacle is at, you're the new lowballers. Never again can any of you complain about Gojets. Gulfstream, Great Lakes or Mesa. $38 per hr max to fly a CRJ 900? You guys are an absolute disgrace! I know 500 hr FO's flying Lear jets making twice as much as you guys. Thanks for lowing the bar a little more for everyone else. You guys are proof this industry is hopeless.

 

Sorry, I do not work for PNCL. I just want to see all these tough talking guys fall on the sword for the industry. It is easy to tell someone to do something when it is not happening to you. Also, I am not new to the industry.

 

Many are making a good point here, those opposed aren't keeping an open mind. If I was in the bottom 60%, and I knew that my job would be eliminated, albeit it in 4 months or 4 years, I would have voted no. I realize the ramifications of voting no, I'd be on the street sooner. But I would prevent a precedence from being set, a precedence that would follow me to my next job.

Very real ramifactions of each vote:
No: Out of a job in 12 months due to accelerated aircraft returns. Move to a lateral job with an industry standard/leading contract in 8-15 months.

Yes: Out of a lower-paying job in 30 months due to announced aircraft returns. Furlough, search for a job, but due to majors renegotiating RFP rates, hiring has stalled due to uncertainty.

(I realize this may be extreme and worst case scenario, I think many would say it is a very real possibility)

And before the flame baits start, let me say that I personally made a lateral move and took a 4 year pay cut/reset voluntarily. So I can speak with some authority here.

 

Here is my two cents. It will be a long while before anything gets put to a vote @ XJT. Let's say a year (wag) By then Pinnacle's deal will be forgotten and XJT will be scrambling to fill vacancies. Also a year is a good enough time to see if pcl will even still be here. Even with this crappy contract they still have the same management that put them where they are.

 

For the sake of the industry, I hope not. These guys don't mind tossing everyone else under the bus. I don't mind seeing them disappear.

 

So if you were being offered $3000 as "signing bonus" and three months pay if you get furloughed this year.

(75x33.10)*3 = $7447.50 + $3000 = $10447.50

As someone less than 40 from the bottom of 2300, what did I have to lose if I vote no, $10,447.50, before taxes. If I am going to lose my job anyways, and have little chance of making it back anytime soon, why would I leave 10 grand on the table. That could make a huge difference when unemployed. Yeah my vote was bought, sh*t happens in this industry, you will change your mind WHEN the time comes. Ill take my money and figure out something else, take the money and finish up my masters when I'm on unemployment.
