I don't know about this. I see a LOT of flight schools begging for CFIs all over the place. There's got to be a boat load of these "young people" who are dying to get in...stupid...but they're dying to get in with the regionals.
Simple reason. Chinese students. Everywhere I know is full of them. There are hardly any Americans in training right now.
What I was reading, also. DAL check airman was told UND is 95% foreign students. Another CFI in training...only 4 in his tng class...school has 200 students...almost all Chinese...begging for instructors.

I don't think it's possible at all. These regionals aren't just going to dissappear. Maybe the stay will be shorter.

They'll go bankrupt as they lose contract flying from the majors bringing flying back in hours. The only "regionals" that will remain are the wholly owned ones. The low paying LCCs will become revolving doors at an accelerated rate.

With all the information about how hard/bad it is in the Regionals and trying to land the dream Job we all had when we started. The reality of not getting to the level we thought in the amount of time we wanted has became apparent to anyone wanting this career. When I started we did not have the internet to research any jobs today any teenager planning his/her career field can find many negative's about the Pilot career. The Airline Management of the past by not paying what a Pilot is worth/Pensions has created there own nightmare and they are trying to fix the image as best as they can. Reading a lot of post that sound as if they have created a position in the Human Resources department in their cubical all day reading these post and trying to put a good spin on the Piloting career in hopes of restoring the dream. The other problem is that Banks are not giving Student Loans to anyone wanting to finance the Pilot education. At least that is what I have heard.

I start training in june. Using financial aid and federal loans to pay for training and the rest of my degree. Sucks but I wasn't born with a silver enema in my ...

I'm excited knowing there are jobs waiting and pay will keep going up. A wet dream would be more in the line of tuition payment bonuses ect. That would make 80k in loans not so spooky.

So if you are financing the training, remember the terms will make that 80K around 200K when all is said and done. You'll see just how stagnant the first 10-13 years of the civilian route will be. A normal monthly payment on an 80K student loan is around $650 for 20 years. Get's real burdening when you take home around 1800 for the first 5 years. Just a little perspective.

I fixed your forum name for ya. You'll figure out why later once you've taken out all those loans.

Bahaha thats good stuff. Chances are it will be around 62k including going from my associates to my bachelors and flight training thanks to pell grant money (18k) worth. Not including any other funds I get through the college. I wish I had the time to go the slow way.

I am 28 and after losing a good job am ready to go after what I always wanted to do now that the job market has improved.

Either way it sucks and I already feel financially violated lol

I will be driving by DTW every day on my way to school.
