I find it interesting that other airlines find the need to talk about their stuff here but you don't see AWAC guys doing the same.

It's too funny! I get called a douche when I try to explain AWAC might go through the same crap Piedmont did. We had people leave in waves to Republic for the shiny 175. We had people leave to AWAC because they said Piedmont didn't have a future. Yes even those people thought the grass was greener. Today you need to go where there's a fast upgrade and get the hell out. Regionals aren't the career hangouts anymore like Piedmont, AWAC or Mesaba were. Horizon with there own nitch out west might be one of the few left.
I just state a fact and dude wants to call me out. AWAC like I said is a great airline. But how many will hold out??? We had a few hold out that took 7 years to upgrade and do you think in this environment with fast upgrades all over the place people will stay for 4-5.

Time will tell and I can tell you right now if you don't secure new flying it will happen to you just like it did with us.

You get called a douche because you sir, are in fact, a douche.

This is an AWAC thread, not a Piedmont thread.

It is what it is. Be proud and happy you work at AWAC now and I hope you guys can continue to grow and hold the line!! Full pay till the last day. Just glad that Piedmont now is starting to get the shrinking ship back afloat.
This doesn't sound very douchey IMHO atw. Just another speculative possibility. Isn't that what this forum is known for?

EDIT: Nevermind. He's a douche.

Not all our new hires are "fresh meat" coming from flight instructing... we have some ex-military who are here to get currency so they can get a call from a, what does ALPA call them, "large jet" carrier - I've flown with several of them recently. There are also a number of former CMR guys in the same boat.

Remember, in the FFD arena, today's Cinderella can be tomorrow's goat and vice-versa. We've seen it happen many times over.

Believe me I remember a few AWAC folks trying to tell us how to vote on a Piedmont Thread during out Contract talks and voting. So don't come on here thinking anyone is high and mighty over the other.

A vast, vast majority, of AWAC pilots are only leaving for a better job ie - JB, good LCC or one of the Big 3.

I have zero stress about the future because my decision has been made a long time ago. I will under no circumstances be starting over at another regional if AWAC truly closes the door in a couple years.

I refuse to be a part of the problem and I will not be making a lateral move - unless it is as a DEC somewhere else or regional FO pay has come up to where I would be basically the same as AWAC.

As for what FodHopper said - pilots here would def be giving up a lot. The month of May I had recurrent training. It was only going to credit me gauruntee. I had a lot of days off and picked up one 4 day trip and credited over 100hrs. Also had a 4 day this month off with pay due to it being needed for Ioe. Was able to pick up a 2 day on top of that at time and a half.

As much as I hate our bases and east coast flying, I care a lot about my pay, bennies and QOL which is not bad at all as a 2 yr FO

Very well said.

Yes and AWAC is one of the places you can stay. We had many of our FO's stay at PDT almost 7 years before they could upgrade because of our contract and bennies. Getting 100 hours of pay credit helps and picking and choosing to get prim. pay trips also helps.
I stuck it out at Piedmont also when many were leaving during the gloom and doom era. Believe me when it officially comes you'll know when and if you have to leave. That being said like 'us' you guys will also have those that will jump ship for a faster upgrade, bonus money and a secure future (Secure future we know can change really fast.) It's just the nature of the beast people think definitely for sure.

I got to Piedmont just as the glory age was starting to decline and over the years it's been a rough road but I will say I was always paid right and on time and been really happy with my time here that is soon coming to an end. Flown with some of the best people in the world.

The purpose of my post was to show that when times get tough you'll have those that will bail fast. We did and all airlines do! Hell I've got a few friends that went to AWAC from PDT and are still there while the ones that stayed at PDT are now flowing to American. You just never know. We had tons of people that left PDT to go to Republic. I don't even want to tell you the nightmare they feel and they know it was the Biggest mistake they made so far in aviation.

You just don't know....

Last time I checked this still isn't a Piedmont thread. Moving on.
