+1. The poster you are responding to has obviously not been watching DCI performance too closely. Not worth my time explaining it to him or her, either.

If RAH would meet the pilot 60% of the way the company would be on a position to do better. 1500 rule will not go anywhere!! The companies need to pay more!!!

There is no chance the captain and the first officer would have been flying that flight together with ATP minimums and all the other rules in place.

As for rules on commuting? Are you going to make everyone live within 1 mile of the airport? What are you going to do to those that take 3 hours in traffic to drive 20 miles to the airport?

Sully, Skiles and Schumer are all self-serving. But the1500hr rule will not change until 3407 is distant enough in the past to no longer be a political tool, basically when there are enough cancellations to anger enough passengers to the point of complaining to congress.

But the fact is that the 1500 hour rule has increased safety. The caliber of pilot we are seeing on IOE is way less than when there were 300 university pilots. Once the schools catch up and those pilots hit the restricted ATP mins in enough numbers, quality will go up.

Yes, we'd be much better with companies that go for the empty flow-through/ guaranteed interview promises and sign concessionary contracts during a pilot shortage, selling out those that have held out for better.

Sully and Skiles don't care about safety, they care about scope. They're exploiting 3407 and exaggerating the situation at the regionals to make it look like regionals are not safe so airlines will be pressured to move flying back to mainline. Their agenda during 1549 congressional testimony was transparent and obvious, and they used their notoriety to try to influence scope under the guise of safety.

I support moving all branded flying to mainline, I don't support exploiting tragedy and lying about the regionals to do it.
