Isn't this illegal? What about our pilots that may be Muslim, or Jewish, or Buddhist, etc.... Well maybe not illegal, but really?
"My 12-year-old son Jacob certainly doesn’t see much that is virtuous about obedience, and it is something he struggles with on a daily basis (which may explain why it is on my mind today). "
Maybe it's because he probably already has his own Ferrari sitting in the driveway of that castle that BB calls his home, paid for at the expense of the pilots of RAH... he's a rich kid spoiled brat.

The question is, is this going to end up their new norm? Or was this so that Bedford wasn't lying to congress when he said that new hires make in excess of 30k?

As if RAH wasn't already a terrible company. Now they are saying if a pilot doesn't extend their FDP (Flight Duty Period) they will be given an Unavailable ( 8 of those / sick calls a year and you're fired, even with a doctors note!) and the Chief pilot will deal the punishment. How these morons think this is legal is beyond me. The lessons of 3407 are totally lost on these people.

From the latest management memo:
Unbelievable!
FDP extensions – Contact by the Company to the PIC is not required for any unforeseen delay that would require the crew to operate up to 30 min beyond their Table B FDP limit. There is a requirement for the Company and the PIC to concur that there are no legality issues that would disallow any crewmembers from operating beyond 30 minutes up to a 2 hour extension. Again, please remember this is separate from the requirement that a pilot must attest to being fit for duty prior to every flight . If a crewmember declines a legal extension, the scheduler will note the UNA on their schedule and forward to the Chief Pilot’s office to be handled by them.
