1. The current most junior GSO person was hired about a year ago. GSO vacancies are rare.
2. The company closes outstation bases at a drop of a hat. GSO is the smallest non-charter outstation base.
3. Upgrade at RAH will be further slowed by senior people displaced from the 145s as those are parked. There are still 41 145s flying for DL.

Yeah, looking into things over there and bassed off what ive heard here and around the line im no longer even entertaining the idea. I have an app in at compass with a letter of recommendation that seems like a good move though im not the top notch cadidate they usually prefer with a few speeding tickets from 4+ years ago, but if they dont than im still far better off where I am at as a commuting line holder at trans states than sitting around rah getting paid less than I make now with a ****ty contract and maybe not even being home bassed.
Starting September the Q is doing turns and a RON into GSO from EWR.

Eww newark. I prefer to stay the hell away from the nyc cluster **** as much as possible especially when commuting. We are doing ord gso and iad gso turns and a ron starting in September also I actually have a gso overnight in my line for September. pretty psyched about it. Without the home basing, a gso ron every now and then is the best I can hope for weather at rah or tsa, cept at tsa I have seniority and cancellation pay.
From what ive heard, no cancellation pay on the q is brutal, its a pretty cool airplane but a bit of a hanger queen and ive also heard both ual and rah hate them and want to be rid of them because the performance issues aren't worth the amazing fuel savings
But I know nothing about anything beyond our walls that isnt second hand hand rumor or read from here so that means I pretty much know nothing at all on the subject.
I do love riding on the q's though. The dash 8 is a man's airplane and the Q400 is a mans airplane with a modern touch. I wouldn't mind flying them if circumstances were different.

Compass would be a good choice. Great bases and a growing West Coast presence. I doubt Republic will ever be anything but an East Coast and Indiana area carrier. They think there is some sort of bad juju on the other side of the Rockies. Too bad they don't realize that the only juju over there is pure joy for outdoor fun hogs. I chose poorly.

That is not what the letter said. It is a misinterpretation by those that want to see the outstation model disappear. The quote was "One topic we briefly touched on was an initiative that our mainline partners are undertaking to concentrate their regional partners’ flying by hub." This does not mean outstation basing is going anywhre. It means that mainline only wants a few regional operators in each hub.
Also, the most junior GSO FO has a hire date of early July.
Just FYI.

Thanks captain obvious. That's why I mentioned Q. I was talking a separate airframe. I already know about the 170 in GSO. It's not all about the 170 republic has 2 different airframes that go in and out of GSO. He could commute on his own metal and still receive the 10k signing bonus on the Q.
Just giving a wider variety of choices.
