Anyone who says SJS is an uninformed hypocrit. Are you going to turn down Delta because those idiots are all suffering from SJS? As a whole, operators with a prop has lower QOL, pay, and comfort than their respective jet brethren. Why would anyone take a prop if they don't have to? This is ESPECIALLY true if your airline doesn't offer cancelation pay with a maintenance hog like the Q? Do you like 8 leg days, in the soup, all while making less per hour? You must be a real pilot.

With all due respect to all of your RAH pilots, i have no hatred for the Q or nothing against the plane it self. But like many pilots I think ahead for the future and plan for the long term major airline you want to retire from. I know some pilots like the regional life provided they have quality of life and less commuting but not me. And the only reason I was considering to make a lateral move to republic was because the mainline airlines I am looking at overseas require and accept only people with heavy jet time. And to enhance my experience and skills on a jet, i thought this would be a good opportunity. But I am glad I declined the offer because I have long term goals and I know some people at RAH will be lifers and I would rather enhance my skills on a jet with a quality regional. Good luck to all of u with your career with RAH.

Making a lateral move in this industry is one thing. Its a whole other realm making a lateral move to RAH. Yeah lets go make $23/hour then on top of it fly the aircraft that the company can't staff and has constant mx issues. And oh by the way with no cancellation pay. Oh yeah and another oh by the way sit on reserve longer than you would on the 145 or 170...especially the 170. Yeah it sure sounds like SJS syndrome to me too, not basic logic and common sense
I guess because RAH made bad business decisions and signed contracts which they could not handle that this guy should pay the price with his career and QOL. Yep

SJS aside, the Q should be a last choice simply because from a maintenance standpoint its unreliable, and RAH does not offer cancelation pay.
Sad but true. And before someone comes on here and accuses me of rationalizing, I'm typed in the Q400 and think its a fine aircraft.
The best way to solve the dilemma is to not even apply to Republic in the first place. If the E170 makes a small bulge grow in your trousers, send SkyWest or Compass an email.

One more thing; this is about the Repubic Q. If you pass up a better paying job with better QOL, and better career progression for a jet JUST because it is an E170 then your argument is valid. Yes, Horizon has great FO pay but you can't blame someone for even turning it down because it is stagnant. If your goal is a major, it'll take you MUCH longer to get the mins there than it would anywhere else. If you are happy flying the Q for them the rest of your career, that's your choice. Who am I to judge? IMHO, as a stepping stone, not one of the prop operators except Skywest is a good choice over other jet operators, all things considered.

I'm sorry I jumped on you. I misread your post and I apologize. You're absolutely right to stay where you are. The Q side of the house would be a bad place to be with no cancellation pay or duty rigs. Being stuck at 75 hours of guarantee per month only at any regional's first year rate would be a lousy place to be. Good decision. Furthermore, decisions like this en masse just might drive up wages. Again, my apologies.
