I have a friend who is in training now and is completely miserable. The first hotel was infested with bed bugs. The second hotel is overwhelmed with a mold problem. My friend is 3 weeks into training and they still haven't issued and ID so they can jumpseat home for the weekend. The first paycheck was about 40% short. This person is ready to quit and go home (don't really need this job). Does it get better after training at this place? I am running out of encouraging things to say...

Hotels with bed bugs or mold isn't a problem unique to RAH ask any regional pilot.

I think your friend is probably a bit sensitive. Most of our hotels are ok. I've only had one that I wouldn't go back to. How was his check 40 percent short. Don't they pay you 400 a week for the first month or something? And IDs come out whenever everyone's PRIA is back, everyone went through it, it sucks. My first check on line after training was 650 dollars in 2013, I have a hard time feeling bad for new guys now.

Just because you suffered doesn't mean others should!

I have a hard time believing that. I know people in training right now and I just texted them and they haven't heard of any of those problems... how can the paycheck be 40% short? It's a paper check for the first month. And what hotels are you referring to?

I just finished training 5 days ago. $1800 a month for the first month. Which means about $650 for the first two weeks and the same for the end of the month. Hotel managements don't have anything do with RAH, not all hotels are created equal. In IND our hotel the Cambria- awesome 4 star hotel. While in STL for systems we had La Quinta...not too shabby, but during sims we had Holiday Inn. We got our bonus during our first check...2 weeks after starting indoc.

I'm not saying people should suffer! I'm so happy the industry has gotten better in the time I've been here. It irritates me to hear guys complain about petty things.

Hotels were fine, zero issues. Checks were fine and on time. It's a pain, but ID's come the last week. The company PS'd some people home over weekends that needed to go. If your "friend" doesn't need the job and is ready to quit over what I'm assuming are issues not nearly as bad as described, then I'm guessing he/she is in their early 20's, lives at home, and has never wanted for anything.
