Quote: Here is my first year pay on the 747. Remember this was from August of 2015 to August of 2016, when we had the same amount of flying as now but 200 less pilots so we were all busy. I did not do one day of VX. Was on Training pay for the full 4 months, 71 days in MIA training. OE completed 4 months 2 weeks after start date.
Total earnings were $58,252 for my first 12 months. That is without per diem. Looking at the way we are crewed now, until the first couple hundred leave in the next few months I would not expect much more then min Guarantee. I was surprised I made 58k first year, but up until the last 6 months it was busy. Hope this helps dispel the rumor of 90k first year. It's just not possible unless you are willing to tick off 95 percent of the pilot group here and VX your ass off.

Almost identical numbers to mine. Just shy of $59k. That was with about with 3 months of vxing when it was the cool thing to do. Nowhere near 90k. Can't be done.

Yep, I still am not sure how I made 58k without any VX, but I did have a few months of 85 hrs credit. I am lucky to get 70 hrs credit now.

So, back to the subject of hiring:

Those that are classing up in January - when did they enter the preferential hiring pool?

So, anyway. Yeah, 90k is damn near impossible to hit on first year pay.

Know before you go

Here are just a few of the latest dirty, anti-RLA, CBA violation practices that management has undertaken:

• Illegally docking pay for pilots that refused to become industry SCABS during the ABX strike.
• Illegal extensions.
• Illegal assignment and utilization of TCIs.
• Open time violations.

Better question.. If you are an RJ Captain reading this WITH and WITHOUT Flow Through... Do you make more money at your current position or do you make more on 2nd year pay at Atlas on the 747? What about the 767?
Now... Factor in the $45K you'll make your first year at Atlas and subtract that from what you currently make... How long does it take you to break even given that you might make less on 2nd year Atlas pay than you currently make? Factor in the credit card debt you accumulate on first year pay that new hires tell me about. Do the majors call prior to that? What if you're on the 767?
Also, is it worth it to leave your current job to take the training pay cut ($1600 a month until you finish OE 4 months after hire) or is it a better career move to stay where you are at a regional adding PIC to your resume... Both with and without flow through...

R2 is taxable. Where exactly do you get this information?
R2 is not taxable. As per the Exco.

Hey guys, thanks for all the clarification on first year pay. I see profit sharing is being offered at more and more airlines. If a guy was putting in a pool and flying all the relatives out to help dedicate it and already wrote a check that his checking account couldn't cover until his profit sharing check came in, would he be ok?

Lol.... They really need to update this site and say that there is no profit sharing at Atlas. My first year I got nothing. My 2nd year I got nothing. My 3rd year I got $400, I got $300 in a "Special Distribution" my 4rth year, and I got $600 last year. It certainly won't get you to that phantom "$90K" that HR is telling you you'll make first year. $1300 in 5 years is probably less than what Delta accumulates in 6 months in the right seat of a MD-88 on probation...

Our contract is so horrible that our "Profit Sharing" (or "Special Distribution") is really a shell game where management claims they aren't making money when they are. The money that should've been shared is reinvested in the company and we see none of it.

Does anyone know what they are telling the interviewees about "Profit Sharing" and "Special Distributions" at Atlas?
