Meh, a 20 min longer commute to ord instead of den outta ict.
The reserve sitting is a for sure roll of the dice.
Quote: DEN and ORD are junior on the CRJ and you'd hold a line almost right away. We have no reserves. On the 175 you're going to commute to reserve for 2 years for less pay (line holder pay vs reserve guarantee). I don't think I would have made the same choice as you.
2 years on reserve? even in ORD? A capt I know told me there's not many people bidding across to the 175 on the FO side, so its mainly new hires, at least on the FO side.

I haven't made a final decision on equipment yet, but am heavilly leaning towards the 175. so any info I can get would be greatly appreciated

I had the same choice. Ejet or CRJ. I chose CRJ because I wanted to hold a line ASAP, see how the Ejet pans out, and if it looks good...I'll bid over later!

Of course, I will admit I have a severe case of SJS and I somewhat envy the Ejet new hires...but I think it's the right call for the mean time.

Right on, thanks!

No one can give you a hard number on reserve time on the 175 since it's brand new and has hardly any flying. What I can see happening though is if there's some huge new contract for flying a lot of current FOs actually will have incentive to bid over to it.

The way I look at it is if you take the CRJ as a new hire today you will do nothing but move up in seniority. If you take the 175 you'll have the potential for lots of current CRJ pilots to bid over to the 175 and continuously push you down in seniority. Pilots who have started on the CRJ in the past during times with lots of Brasilia hiring have seen the same thing happen as the Brasilia pilots transitioned to the CRJ and pushed them down.

As of right now there are 35 ORD based E175 pilots and #33 has been here for two years. Assuming no new contracts you actually would be looking at a likely two years on reserve. Of course there hopefully will be new contracts and that stuff is way above my pay grade so I have no idea what to tell you other than what I can see today.

Thanks a lot for the info. ORD is my first choice in basing because of the easy commute for me (I think) and from what I understand its a more jr domicile. Care to speculate on the CRJ situation in ORD? Will the CRJ lines start to be drawn down as more 175s come online there?

Also, I've read a few times on these forms that DL/UA can't add any more 175 flying because they are maxed out on scope. (1) is this true? and (2) if so, what does SKW plan on doing with the additional 175 deliveries and options? If this is the case, I would think that despite popular belief, the 200s won't be going away as fast as people believe.

I really have no guesses. That's way above my pay grade. In the last year ORD has grown a lot on the CRJ. When I transferred to ORD a year ago there were 120 FOs and captains. Now there are 200 CRJ crews and 40 E175 crews in ORD.

I think if they do decrease CRJ flying in ORD it's going to happen after your seat lock is up and you'll have a chance to transition to the 175 anyway. It's very unlikely that you're going to get displaced out of one of the most junior bases.

Also, how many 175 FO's will come back to CRJ for CA?

Delta has plenty of room to expand, and will have even more room to do so once they reach their stated goal of less than 150 50-seaters for Delta Connection by the end of 2015.

United is maxed out on all larger RJs until they find a narrowbody mainline aircraft AND its on the certificate. So they can't make an announcement to operate the C-Series tomorrow and start handing out E-175 contracts to its express carriers.

Delta is just about maxed out on large RJs. Just because they're getting rid of the 50 seaters doesn't mean they can replace that lift with as many large RJs as they want. They are very close, maybe around 15-30 more large RJs, to maxing out. I wouldn't call that "plenty of room to expand". Also, why would you want them to expand? I don't know about you but it would be great if Delta increased their mainline fleet, shrunk DCI, and offered more mainline jobs.
