New guy to the forum scene checking in with random, annoying questions.
I've been looking at Skywest as many of my friends and coworkers have all left me to join the Skywest crew. I've got 1800 hours (mostly 135 PIC) and was just wondering -
How long is training and is it paid at the guarantee? Hotel during training?
How much can one expect to make first year with per diem plus all the credit hours? Any rumors (I love rumors) of domicile east of ORD?
I know these questions have probably been answered but these threads are in the 100 page range! Thanks!

A new pay package should be out soon that will be a big increase for new hire pay and a less insulting increase for everybody else, it will easily pass.

. Rumors I heard were DTW and MIA but that was a long time ago and I haven't heard anything since. After all, the company is called Skywest and not Skyeast.

. The training time line seems faster for the E175 guys from what I can tell. CRJ timeline is 4 weeks of ground, about three weeks of sim, and a few weeks wait for IOE. You get paid the whole time at training guarantee. If you need the ATP CTP course, you start getting paid at that time.

For what it's worth, yes guarantee is only 76 on reserve. Yes guarantee is only 75 for a line holder... But, we have 3 reserve lines in ORD for July, 4 in August. You'll break guarantee... If you're not awarded a line your first month. Minimum credit for a line holder is roughly 89hrs across the system. I'm on second year pay and will more than clear $40k this year and I'm only blocking around 70hrs a month (crediting 90+ every month). Thank you displacement pay for IOE. Don't see this stopping any time soon. I'm on the CRJ and bidding roughly 50% in base after being here 1 year and 3 months.

Training guarantee is till loft, so your IOE Time or waiting for it is at 76 hours. Per diem is paid for each hour of everyday that you're in training whether it's a work day or not, so you can see how that adds up. Pay for first year is rumored to increase to $30 a hour, I'm sure we will see in the next 2 weeks or so
Math in public. $24/hr x 65 hours is $1560. Plus per diem of $1.80/hr x 24 hours $43.20 x 30 days is $1296.
So I can expect a $2856/ month while in training? Roughly of course...
I also heard they make you pay for your headset and bag? What are the costs there? What about uniforms and EFBs?
Thanks in advance!!

Yes that seems about right, with Indoc it's a little more than a month, 175 class is about a month and 10 days (that's with a number of days off in between). Yes you pay for your (headset) bring your old one, yes you pay for your bag and uniforms, that's all standRd in the industry, I think the crj had David Clark on board but erj def doesn't. You get uniform allotment I think it's 300 a year, that can be used towards bag too. It's tough starting out buying headset, bag and uniforms but it's long term investment, my bag I've had for 5 years, headset just as long too and it's all tax deductible.
