Quote: I interviewed and now I was wondering about reference letters. not internal ones but external ones. 2 of my 3 letters are from pilots that live abroad. Does JB email, call, or snail mail? If I am fortunate enough, I wanted to give my references a heads up, and also if it is snail mail it will take a longer time to get through phase 2.

Thanks and congrats to anyone that made it through this process.

If anyone is thinking about applying at JB, you should. Very chilled out, except the cog and coordination tests... everyone felt stupid about those test, and with the growth, especially on the East Coast, will be a rewarding career! The pay seems to be good, they have a contract that seems to be pretty well written, great people from the chiefs down to the door person. The FAs on my flight were welcoming and attentive. Culturally, seems to be a place to be. Sorry, but I am drinking the Blue Koolaid,

When did you interview?

Congrats on making it this far, just hang in there for a class date!

As for the computer test you took, don't sweat it. We ALL felt stupid afterwards, and were sure we would get a TBNT. The test has nothing to do (yet) with people getting hired.

New info from the people department.

"Men, be sure to get creative with your facial hair. We want you to have FUN. (It' one of our values but we are sure you knew that!) Try a new look, long sideburns that end in a point, razor thin beards, geometric designs, flowers, whatever. Just make sure its neatly trimmed and interesting!"

Is hiring coming to a hault for the summer?
Is it true that no classes are scheduled for the summer ?
Reply
Unless things have changed VERY recently there are four new hire classes scheduled between now and the end of June.

Historically we run very small class sizes during the summer months compared to the rest of the year. (Single digits) But we do not stop hiring... It’s all hands on deck to support the operation during the summer season. And with the JFK & FLL runway closures... this summer will likely be our biggest challenge in a while.

This, plus the December slowdown.

Someone mentioned 30 pilots per class. I don't think that is sustainable. With a goal of 400+ this year, and subtracting June/July/December (which they won't stop training, just slow it down), that's still only about 45 per month.

For those waiting, I realize this is THE hardest part. I started in the fall a couple of years back and the classes prior to mine (23) were much smaller. Just keep your spirits up, await the pool email, and unless JB is your target airline for some reason, keep those other apps up to date. It took some of us the better part of a year from application to class date.

Ever forward, never back!

No. Hiring is continuing all year. There are two large classes coming in the near future. Not sure about class sizes overall, but hiring is not stopping. If anything, I bet they hire more, not less.

Just relax.

Any idea what the success rate through Phase II is? Assuming someone doesn’t have anything derogatory/undisclosed in their background, of course.

It would be for lying etc. doubt it is that low of busting out rate.
