Just got an email from the smart recruiters saying that my app is in review followed by another email saying to call in the next few weeks so they can learn more about me.....not sure if that means anything or not.

I have about 8500 tt
part 121 experience with American Eagle
about 2500 TPIC
Associates Degree
most of my time is turboprop and turbojet

Did Alaska finally give up on the archaic practice of requiring a 4 year degree?

No. Degree still required.

FWIW, I'm sitting on about 4200TT (no 121) and when I spoke to one of the recruiters at the last career fair, she said I was "a little low" on TT from what she had been seeing from other applicants. 5-6K is what she said she was seeing as being "competitive". Not that that necessarily disqualifies you/me or anybody else, but that's what I have been told.

She also asked why I didn't have any 121 time, leading me to believe that's just one more box they want checked. Again, not a disqualifier, but every little check mark helps.

AS just interviewed 14 QX this week, CJO's given to thirteen of them, (myself included). Everyone I recognized was a 10~15 year CA, no fresh faces.
Me:
10,000+ TT
9000 pt. 121
4600 PIC turbine

I have a suspicion HR keeps us in a seperate pile from off-the-street apps, but we're still competitive overall.

Congrats! Welcome aboard! I think you are really going to enjoy the change from Horizon... Did they give you a tentative class date or did they throw you into the pool?

You are prime regional material. I'd recommend applying at Horizon, where upgrades are now running less than three years and they're guaranteeing interviews with Alaska in order of seniority, or another regional of your choice.

I'm looking at 6500 total with over 4000 part 135 jet PIC, and my application has languished for over two years. If nothing happens by the end of the year, I'm going to have to take the hit to my income to get me some of that much-vaunted (but totally unnecessary, they keep telling me) 121 time.
