Quote: Sure, but you still have to have 1000 121 SIC. Which, considering you basically need 1000 to step foot in the 121 game at a minimum, the total time requirement isn't really even a big deal at this point, it's the company time that's the obstacle for people.
To have 1000 hrs 121 by the time you have 1700 TT means either starting 121 ops at 700 TT or joining the airline at 1200 TT and the max 121 equivalent hours (135 or mil MEL PIC). Either way it's impressive.

Quote: Commuter policy only applies for commuting from the nearest airline served airport to your base, not if you are stuck on vacation. If you live in Munich and that is where your home address is on file with the company you are good, if you live in Omaha and are just checking out Octoberfest, you are on your own.
That isn't how I understand it to work. I just read the contract again and it says nothing about your home address. Just that you have two flights. What is the contract section that says it has to be a certain airport?

Don't take crap from anyone. That doesn't mean be disrespectful, but every group has there small group of "lemons". If what is happening violates SOP (the books), HR policies (harassment), or common decency... Stop the show. Not to toot a horn, but I did it a few times in my long tenure as an FO. Person either stopped the BS immediately or quickly realized it would be stopped for them. Sure, avoid politics/money/religion/sex conversations if there is a non-conversational line, that's being an adult if the topic(s) arise, it's a different ballgame when belittled or treated without respect.

Every carrier will have the few folks who are a PITA, Endeavor is no different. Don't take the BS and be professional and it stops in its tracks. The few that are difficult are easily put in their place when they get some resistance to their BS. Never had a problem once saying, "stop your ----, (piece your 4-letter word carefully, but with intent) I'm not dealing with it". In many cases they actually became fun to fly with after the declarative. Probation or not, if someone is over the line, they are over the line. I guarantee they won't want to sit in the meeting where they "wrote you up" and it turns out they were the one being the bafoon.

Wish that I could like this post, like how they do on JC!

Every now and then I think APC has nothing to offer, and then Higney goes and posts this gem. Very nice.

Some of the lemons thankfully have migrated to mother Dixie too.

Such is life. Every carrier has "those guys".

Moral of the story, if you know a chief pilot on your JS wouldn't be "ok" with the environment, you already know you shouldn't either. Worst case, you would explain it in the office. Believe me, that can be a good thing.

Don't take the BS. The more folks that "take it", the more the few think it's ok. Don't let it happen. A disagreement on a single decision or talking point is one thing, be an adult, but if it's a complete menial beatdown- stop it while it's happening. Take the high road to say "no".

Not looking for likes, but I flew with many of the folks who are "lemons" by reputation when I was an FO. Maybe they hated me, but they stopped their bs when I dropped the hammer. Ironically, after the fact, when they had open trips they sent me a text to pick them up. So it's a weird mental screw job.

Before I upgraded, all 3 times (let's not go there), I only had 1 "avoid fly with" and it was an issue that was well outside of issues in the flight deck. Even flying with said person, it wasn't awkward, but very quiet in cruise. Issues in the flight deck with "problem folks" occurred once, and were quickly rectified with calm words. Don't let yourself be pushed around. You aren't paid to deal with BS, nor should you be expected to add it to your duties.

All of a sudden my international flight home went from 11 avail to -2 avail. I checked the airport stand by list and it shows 9 HK/stand by revenue passengers with 27 unassigned seats. Which is more accurate? I'm number 3 on the non-rev standby list.
