They are not domiciles, they are "co-terminals". We have trips that can start/finish in LGA, PBI, LAX, but they will always start/end at the samae airport, so there will be a scheduled "limo" leg or you will get reimbursement $$.

Right. So 2:45 for LGA but 2:30 for JFK? The belt parkway going to Kennedy is the worst road traffic wise in NYC so I don’t get that.

Also, 3:15 for PBI? Is the traffic there really worse than NYC? Highly doubtful. NYC should be 3 hours.

jfk is the actual base. lga is the "outlier", just like lax compared to lgb. we are very happy that it is set up like that. feel free to join the negotiating committee and get that changed after doing a survey of the pilots, but i think you will find that the survey will show we like it like that.

Yeah it’s not about the complexity of the drive, it’s about the unexpected need to have a reserve drive somewhere that’s not his domicile and the language has to be fair for everyone. The pilot based in FLL that lives in Miami Beach will absolutely need 3:15. You can’t just assume that more reserves will have trouble getting to JFK than going to LGA, or PBI is easier to get to than LGA...contracts don’t work like that.

JB’s co-base situation is probably one of the better ones. JetBlue pilots get paid 1 hour of limo/DH pay to go to EWR for trips starting there. Ditto for HPN. And they get the cost of JFK-LGA transportation reimbursed each time for any LGA trips. Don’t think any other airlines do that. 2:30 was an improvement from the 2 hours it used to be. And the 14 hour long call is longer than anyone’s. JetBlue pilots will keep trying to make improvements. But, since you aren’t even on property yet, you should prob use a wait and see approach before you start imposing your opinions on what the jetblue pilot group should or shouldn’t have in the CBA with regards to co-bases. These are negotiated items, and if you don’t like them, feel free to work for improvements after comparing to legacies and noting discrepancies based on what the pilot group wants.

Honestly when I was a reserve I don’t remember the last time I was called out to lga. Probably helped that I was a 190 fo but it might have been once.

For what it’s worth, I think the PBI call out time has something to do with taking the commuter rail from the FLL airport.

So, in theory you get your call, go to FLL and then have time to take the train to PBI from there. I think it’s taking into consideration commuters who don’t have cars or live in the area. It’s 40+ miles between the two.

Regarding Gannett's resignation email....


You (JB pilots) could have replaced the CBB with a better, more fair contractual relationship. As Jean said, the CBB can be used against you however they wish. The contract outsources some of the most important workplace rules to it. All the happy go lucky apologists and juicers (e.g. Southerner), think that nothing can happen to you. This is a very immature and ignorant position to take. JB is run by lawyers (literally so now). The vagueness of the contract with its inadequate, elementary school language, loopholes for everything, and self defeating clause nullification statements (e.g. "if possible"), is our fault for voting for a weak contract. People had their own selfish reasons for voting yes (e.g. the perception of immediate better money) or from scaremongering perpetuated by juicers (e.g. we're about to be bought by United). Remember all these failures, and your failures, for the next contract. There is no one to blame but yourselves.

So voting it down would have strengthened the language in the work rules? I believe we would have gotten a bigger signing bonus and maybe 3% COLA. At that point, the MNB was probably just looking at monetary compromise. The work rules had been completed before that.
Let me know what would have improved, besides MAYBE pay rate/PS/bonus or COLA.
Serious question for discussion Q.
