[QUOTE=OOnewb;2806299]I hear that you have strong feelings about this issue, and I respect that. I'm trying to get a feel for what the actual policies and practices are in training on the pilots' side at OO, though.

What counts as "disrespect" or "disruptive behavior"?.[quote]

I don’t work for SKW. But, for the most part, training is training amongst most airlines. The old saying goes same airline, but different logo.

Being belligerent and arguing with the instructor in front of the class would be a sing of disrespect. Issues should be brought to the instructor in a polite and professional manner during a break or at the end of the day away from the rest of the class.

In my 40 years with many different carriers both in the US and abroad, perhaps one or two new hires were invited to depart and embark on their next adventure. Of course that was before PRIA. Don’t know the consequences PRIA would have if an individual, as an employee, were released from training today.

As far as tardiness goes, aren't most trainees expected to take the hotel shuttle to training? I meant more in terms of coming back from breaks during the day. If you are a minute late back from a break, do you get written up? Or do you just have to throw $5 in to the pizza party fund?
In the U.S. a couple of minutes late? Probably not as it take a few minutes for the class to settle back in to the training mode.

So are pilots allowed to have visible tattoos?

You may want to make your query on another SKW thread, if are not in possession of your company’s GOM, COM, FOM whatever.

Sounds like you’re embarking on a new adventure with SKW... All the best. You’ll find that flying beats working for a living.👍

Default It's a no brainer!

SkyWest pilots need to unionize, otherwise you'll keep drinking the same old Kool-Aid from management! Please don't tell me you have some in house organization that protects your interests, blah, blah blah.

I don't think a union is going to help them much with (visible) tattoos. Just not really a thing in our industry.

Long sleeves works anywhere.

Bandaids work at regionals.

If you want to work for a major, especially a halfway decent one, you do not want to show up for an interview with bandaids on your neck, wrists, hands, or God forbid your face. They will not be fooled, and that's probably going to be too over the top for them.

My comment was is in regards to "training issues" from the OP not tattoos. SkyWest pilots have legitimate gripes and will continue to get crap from management as long as they are not unionized!

The pilots can complain about working conditions, training and pay and all the other abuses from management but get no sympathy from me. My message is simple, get unionized and protect the profession! Protect your career! Stop the abuses by management! Don't settle for flight instructors that are zombies from working double shifts 7 days a week! Don't settle for Chief pilots, vice presidents and other managers that threaten your livelihood because they think, "you don't fit in". Don't let them tell you, "there's the door because there are two dozen other pilots willing to take your job".

The union will help with that, but it will work a lot better at mainline. I've tried it all.
