Don’t mean to be a downer but this has all the marks of SkyWest pulling a Republic, I wouldn’t be surprised if there aren’t any classes until this Fall. Multiple pushbacks, indefinite class dates, I’d advise anyone in this forum to explore options

^^^^ this.

There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight to CA and senior FO attrition. They already took the “nuclear” option and forced everyone eligible to upgrade. CA attrition will probably outpace any new upgrades by a factor of 2-3.

There is just not much need for new FOs.

I guess the only saving grace is that many FOs also bail for “fun liveries”. Otherwise there would be even less hiring.

That is definitely the lesson, I would go to the first available date at any regional that can work for you personally, and have other CJOs in your back pocket just in case. Keep applying, the market is very volatile.

Judging by the amount of airplanes I'm seeing parked (OO and other regionals) I would be trying to get into an ULCC if I was looking to get into an airline. Or take the first regional class date, get 100 hours and bail to said ULCC.

Interesting observation. With the new pay stabilizing the former heavy FO attrition at the regionals but not really stopping the ca attrition we have the regionals having to stop fo hiring. The new economy is going to make the ulcc the new entry level airline. As they have to lower their hiring standards the regionals are in danger of eventually fixing their ca problem over time but then being unable to hire FOs. I see it coming.

I've been saying this for awhile. It's clear that as long as there's a demand for labor from the top, the regionals will continue to shrink, mainline will do more of that flying or cut the markets that they can't/won't serve. The LCCs are now having smaller pools to choose from and they have a bigger FO attrition rate than CA with the golden handcuffs effect, so it seems logical that the next step for them is to expand their hiring of 1500hr CFIs outside of their current partnership programs. I think we're in a growing pains period right now where the market is taking time to reach that point but I foresee that being the norm in the next 2-3 years, barring a large drop in demand.

This^^^^

Except that 2-3 year period of no hiring at the regionals itself will decrease the willingness of people to continue training to go into the field, which will itself exacerbate the shortage at the majors just as DOT and Congress are pressuring them to be better able to avoid and more quickly recover from scheduling meltdowns and their unions are using their newfound leverage to get better QOL provisions in their contracts, both of which will require additional staffing.
And with three legacies still dependent on regional feed, yeah, they are going to be a lot more likely to hire from ULCCs and handicap a competitor than hire from their own regional feed, although hiring away competitors regional pilots will persist - certainly enough to maintain the regional CA shortage.

I had a training date on the ERJ for 2/26 and haven't heard anything back other than the standard "We'll contact you 1 month prior to your training date." Has anyone from that class date heard anything back yet?

30 days prior to your new training date. If your new class date is September you’ll hear in August

I was asking if anyone that shared that class date has heard anything. I am very lucky to be able to keep flying doing contract work but a lot of guys are going to end up leaving for 135/91 corporate jobs if they don't start communicating with their prospective employees. The lack of communication from HR is very frustrating.
