But the CFI should already have all the knowledge covered, they are just going to ask him about the stuff he's teaching on a daily basis. 121 types should prepare for a PC, especially if they are currently on the CRJ.

If they ask strange questions they're (probably) trying to see how you'll react...I had a buddy who I had arranged an interview for (all-around good guy actually, and nice guy too) who somehow got sideways and ****ed off by the interviewer, and he didn't get hired. I could have gotten him a re-attack but he was so PO-ed that he didn't want anything to do with SKW. Don't get mad, but at the same time don't just roll over for anything and everything...they don't want weak sisters either.
I agree but it wasn't like good cop bad cop. It was just bizarre, I compare it to the hardest checkride I have had to do at the time by a fed who had a superiority complex. Just a little over the top, this was the 4th interview that I had at that point and none compared. ( I was trying to leave a bankrupt regional so I was shopping around). Ended up being offered the job but like your friend, they just rubbed me the wrong way so I turned it down. The Kool Aid was over the top for me. YMMV

I had entirely the opposite experience with my Skywest interview. I had interviewed at a few other regionals and felt like some of the other ones rubbed me the wrong way. Most of them wouldn't even tell me whether I did good or bad or what I could improve on. I left the Skywest interview feeling confidant. I liked the people on the interview team. They did an amazing job keeping the applicants calm and making small talk, and they gave us a nice debrief about things we did well or did poorly on and gave us a good idea about whether we would get the job or not.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Maybe one of the interviewers was having a bad day. I thought the interview team was awesome when I was there.

I had the same experience. Straight forward and fair. Btw, make sure you are well versed with 3585 though. Commonly discussed during the tech portion of interview.

Question for the poolies!- how many of you have heard back from CE after responding to their inquiry to see if you're still able to start training?
Curious if anyone who has responded in the affirmative has heard back with a "roger that" email or a confirmation that you're one of the chosen ones to start in the July 8 class OR if Only the people that have notified Skywest that they are unable to accept for whatever reason have heard back so far from CE.
It's great that movement is here again!

Exemption 3585, it deals with requirements for filing IFR alternates, make sure you know it very well before the interview

I'm not sure they'd hold a CFI responsible for that, it's a 121 thing. But if you have 121 experience, you should know it.

If someone is coming from 135 (me) would they center the interview mainly on 135 regs and aircraft systems? I didn't know what 3585 was until I read it in Skywest gouges.

Get the Everything Explained in Aviation book by Richie Lengel. The chapters on 121/135 regs are accurate and concise and will help get you through an interview if you don't enjoy digging through the FAR/AIM. Nice little section on 3585 and the old 1 nav 2 nav rule etc.

I interviewed as a 1,000 hr CFI, and I was asked about the 3585 exemption. In my debrief I was told that it wasn't a huge knock on me for not knowing it, but "you want to work at a 121 carrier... you should be familiar with the regulations pertaining to it", so yeah I would be familiar with it. Know jepps really well. I was given an enroute chart and asked the standard "whats this mean". Then I was given an approach plate, and asked similar questions, followed by FAR questions. Wheres the FAF, whats the DA, if I see these lights can I land, what if the visibility drops inside the FAF..should I go missed, etc. Study high speed aerodynamics, know about mach tuck, swept wings, coffin corner, know how a jet engine works, axial flow compressor, whats N1 & N2 mean, etc. Know your most complex airplane's systems well. (Electrical, landing gear, etc.) If you study really hard for your interview, they can tell. Not only will this make you feel more prepared and confident, they will recognize this and ask fewer questions and/or move on to other things quickly.
