How much weight do attending job fairs hold with Skywest? I know ATP mins are the law of the land now, but would it benefit someone at all for going to a job far with less than ATP mins? I obviously know they won't be inviting someone without ATP mins to interview but my thought is it that it'll show recruiters one's interest.

If you don't have ATP minimums (and aren't close to having them) they're probably not going to interview you. If the job fair is in your city or easy to get to it might be worth going to talk to some people on the interview team. If you have to travel to get there it might be a waste of your time.

Skywest job fairs are basically interviews. If they have the time at the job fair and you meet the minimums they'll do a full interview there. When I went I had the time minimums but I didn't have my ATP written complete. They did the HR interview in the job fair and told me to call them as soon as I got the written complete. I called while I was driving home after doing my written and they set up the interview in SLC for just a few days later.

There's an Aero Crew fair in ATL in about 3 months. I'm about an hour away and should have about 1000TT, with all other ATP requirements met. I'm flying about 90-100hrs a month so who knows what could happen. I do need to get that written taken care of.

Very cool! You said the entire interview has been done at a job fair? Doesn't Skywest have a sim portion in their interview?

Also, they may do the *HR* portion of the interview at the job fair/open house, but they will still have you come to SLC to complete the sim portion and any other testing. But 6 months+ is a long way away from being hireable and a lot can happen in that time, so you may attend and be disappointed if they just say "nice to meet you, apply when you meet the minimums, thanks." If the E175 really comes in with no reduction in fleet, we need 400 new pilots over the next year, and that doesn't even factor in any attrition, which will continue. It may not sound like much, but it is more than a 10% increase in pilots here, and even if and when 200's do start to come off contract without new homes or at-risk flying, we will still need a lot of new people. So relax and focus on your ATP written :-)

You would still have to come to SLC to complete paperwork and anything they didn't get to at the job fair, including sim. Sometimes they don't require 121-current applicants to do the sim.

You'll need all of the ATP requirements met (1500tt, x/c, etc.)including the written.
