Huh,
CRJ SOP Pg 1-7,8
9. Aircraft Preflight
D, 1)a "External Walkaround"
Comes before
Pg 1-1.9 Passenger Boarding
And
1-1.9
11 A. After the aircraft pre-flight responsibilities have been completed, the
captain or first officer notifies the station the flight is ready for passenger
boarding.
Your "time" is best spent complying with the SOP as its written, not your idea of how it should be....the pre/post flight inspection is done before boarding so passengers aren't boarded onto a broken plane and MX has the maximum amount of time to remedy the situation.
This is exactly what I am talking about, F/Os doing what they think is their "interpretation" of the SOP. Nice try though, an alarming number of F/Os have this "interpretation" attitude,

No kidding! Holy crap, I flew with one or two guys like him (her?) over my many years as a regional FO at Eagle in the early and mid 90's. They were LEGENDARY within the entire company for being the biggest idiots. They may have been smart guys, but they were openly condescending, and hostile toward nearly EVERYONE they flew with. They were self-righteous know-it-alls who who were awful to be with in the cockpit. They absolutely destroyed the crew concept with their antics. One guy was such a know-it-all blowhard idiot, that when his terminal disease came back, and he eventually passed away, you know what the crew lounge's reaction was? I kid you not, it was "meh, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy." Wow!! what a legacy that guy left behind.
I'll tell you this much, I flew as a captain for many, many years afterward, and I always tried to remember who I DIDN'T want to be like - THOSE guys.
I'm an FO again at a major airline, and I'm having a great time flying with captains who are nothing like Mr. Know-it-all ClickClickBoom. Great people all around, from the instructors, to the check airman, to the line captains.
While he (she?) raises valid points, the manner in which they are presented, with the holier-than-thou, preachy, I've-never-made-a-mistake, condescending attitude, is nearly beyond belief.
Get over yourself, clickclickboom. I mean really. Come on back down to earth with the real mortals.
Holy crap!

I can afford, and will be picky as to where I go, had a buddy furloughed 2 times thanks to mama UAL. So while many "need" to go, I will go where and when I choose. Douchie all depends on how one presents oneself, if you come on the plane and "tell me how this show is gonna roll" it will either be a very short trip or a very long one, 99.99999% are normal, 2 guys trapped in a very small office making the best of things. If the other guy is normal and utters a few oopses during the trip, that's normal, if he wants a SOP war, been down that road and having a copy in the library could dispel a few myths. With all the crap that gets flung around on the interwebs, explain/tell me what I posted that wasn't factual, heck I even transcribed a few SOP gems for the masses with references, just because you don't like my delivery, that doesn't mean that the references are invalid. Way too much buttsmoke being blown out here, most of it from experts who havent even cleared Probation. And what will cause a probationary release, attitude, while not common, it has happened.
