It is something the company has talked about. It would be done within seniority, but accomplish by artificially inflating a base (think about all the SLC losers). Then they'd just TDY the snot out of you until you A) blew your brains out B) quit C) go postal.

I think if you choose SkyWest or any other regional for that matter, the only option you'll have with your wife is mediation or if you can work your divorce out amicably?

As far as I'm concerned, commuting to reserve when you're brand new, to a domicile you don't want, is about the worst it gets in this business.

If SGU wants to set up a program to alleviate that, while honoring seniority, then I am all for it. TDY takes care of the same staffing problem, but with positive space travel, parking at home, a hotel, and per diem to the new pilot that might be sitting reserve far from home on their own dime otherwise, or enjoying crashpad life. I think its a good idea.

Not saying I like OBR, but letting you go to a base you otherwise can't hold, and positive space you to (say Chicago or MSP) to cover flying with rooms paid for is basically giving commuters PS and free hotel rooms. The key is how do you honor seniority in the process of doing so.

Are there people getting the sim earlier than 2 weeks depending on seniority within the class?

Some folks got sim SLC without a break. Most of us got the end of March off from the 19th on, and sims starting early April in ATL, CVG, and STL.

Other then the fact our training pay is BRUTAL, I'm trying to figure out why in the heck everyone sees 2-3 paid weeks off as a BAD thing.

I got the opportunity to take a month off between ground school and sims which I would really have liked, but I defered it to the gentleman one spot below me who wanted the time off with his family. I still wish I could have taken it!
