Sounds like that chief pilot needs to be reported to the FAA and when he is crying about being investigated we will tell him to suck it up. That mf'er would be no where to be found if the FAA unleashed the weight of a thousand hammers on that captain if something happened and they found out he was sick.

This should be an ASAP, SCR and EGR against the Chief in question.

I just flew with a CA who flew sick on part of the trip, then called off. Because this CA had 7 occurrences, this individual was subjected to an uncomfortable phone call in which an ACP informed the CA that the CA should have finished the trip “Because sometimes you have to suck it up.”

I'm certain I know who the ACP on duty was.

I'm just ticked off that i can't use vacation that the company provides me. They know how much vacation we all get. They should be staffed with reserves to cover every one of our vacation days. What we need in a new contract (among other things) is a mechanism that allows us to use our vacation. Vacation is hugely important to the quality of life for me and my family. To be continually denied vacation month after month, year after year is something that needs fixed.

Airfix

I was able to bid for master vacation during transition. I had to call the person in charge and get my equipment and domicile changed. This was in 2015.

Upgrade dipped down to 2.5 years with the most senior guy in my class getting a DTW award.

Seriously? What did your CA say to you when he got off the phone?

Also what is an SCR and EGR?

If it was this guy, he also told me I couldn't call in fatigued after an emergency.

SCR: Safety concern report, goes to safety department and the SMS program

EGR: Employee grievance report, usually for SP53 violations, but an official way to write people up for violations of company policies (including harassment and breaches of safety)

Finally logged into SAPA after months of not bothering and saw what all the fuss is about.

No, it can't have been MH because 1) he's a CP not an ACP, and 2) that's not the base in question, assuming that the guy/gal who posted that note was flying with a CA out of his/her base.

Fun with Numbers:

I believe that it is interesting to note that of the last 100 people who could have held captain, only 20% bid for the upgrade in DTW. Skywest is reaching the point where a good percentage of the remaining FOs either don't feel ready to upgrade, don't want to go to DTW, ORD, or MSP, or don't have the 1000 part 121 hours required.

Upgrades will be down to 18 month in Feb of 2017 at the rate it is dropping. But, Skywest needs to increase the number of captains it is training each month to meet the demands of the planes that are coming.

The limiting factor is, as we all know, getting new hire FOs in the door. To do that they are going to need to raise wages. We are already to the point where, with the bonuses, the first year FOs make more money than the 2nd year FOs.

The other regionals were able to get pilots because of the big shifts in planes causing upgrades at some airlines to go down to 6 months. That is not happening anymore. That may help Skywest, the best regional for a pilot, attract more pilots. In response the other regionals will have to increase their pay. Hopefully this will start a bidding war for pilots. Hopefully it won't just be for new hires.

I'm guessing not because Whistleblwr is an SFO CRJ FO.
