Middle of the pack people at SKYW are probably the most hosed over group in terms of schedule. QOL of that nature needs to be addressed here.

Huh?
From the same ones who are paying more at other companies..
Who is going to pay for the pay increases at Endeavor?
Who is going to pay for the pay increases at Envoy?
Whatever cost of salary a major budgets for their WO will obviously be similar for their contract carriers. If they are increasing the pay at all their WO do you think it will be any shock to them when Skywest has to do the same?
Maybe I'm missing the question.

Initially, the senior members of the pilot group will pay. New-hires have the option of going somewhere else if they don't like the pay. Senior folks are stuck, unless they happen to have a CJO or two in hand.

Default Training

Starting CTP next week and ground Mid Oct. I have been studying ep&l's and atp stuff, anything else anyone would recommend I do prior to class? I don't want to overlook anything and be spinning wheels in class.

you miss my point.
SKW will pay the pay increases but where are they going to get the money. AAG and DAL, would not think these two will increase there fee's to skw just to go and increase pay and bonuses at the w/o's again. This would be nothing else than AAG and DAL their individual self bidding against themselves. SKW only option is United since they own no one. Thats my point. SKW gets paid from the mainline carrier it feeds. It gets a set amount.

Yep. But remember those millions of dollars in profits? Skw has the money...

If that's what you're suggesting then I did not miss your point.
First of all Skywest makes plenty in profits.
Second, the majors need Skywest to fly the flights they are contracted to fly. If Skywest can't staff because they can't afford to pay the going rate for a regional pilot then the majors will suffer those financial losses as well.
It's the beginning of a new world in terms of compensation for a regional pilot. If everyone had your mindset pilot compensation would stay embarrassingly low while airlines continue to enjoy record profits.

maybe you should rethink skw's hold on mainlines.
but pilots looking to get to a regional and leave is what has caused the low pay rates because they did not want to fight for pay. When was the last time the skw pilot group fought for raises?

You're right..the majors don't need Skywest or its 4000 pilots.

I'm not saying Skywest has a hold on them but they're business relationship is a win-win for them both..even if the majors do have to cough up a little more money to help pay for the increased pay regionals are offering pilots.

If we're going to play this game... Who was the last regional to vote in a concessionary contract?
We're filling our classes with 60+ in each. I assume that most of those 60+ probably had offers from other airlines including maybe Envoy? However, they still chose SkyWest for whatever reason. One of those reasons could've been OO's significantly higher pay to that of the AA WO's. That coupled with higher pay rates at other regionals probably forced AAG's hand into giving you guys at the Wholly owned carriers the rates/signing bonuses they gave to attract some of those 60+. Your rates are now higher than ours, which is what we all want to see because it in turn forces our mgt to up their game if they want to keep attracting the number of candidates they have been.

.....You're welcome.
