Because Skywest isn't a dumpster on fire , we fill classes. Why give bonuses when you can fill classes? As anyone knows a retention bonus is very unlikely to stop you from moving on, it might stop a few going to a LCC but if Delta calls 20k isn't going to stop anyone.

We're still averaging about 60 new hires a month. Some months were closer to the 100 mark like last winter, but it hasn't really slowed down. The only difference is two new hire classes of 30ish per month rather than one class of 60.

Hello everyone. I'm interviewing next week. If everything goes smoothly, would I expect a class date in November or December?

Well I think it's not an issue of filling classes with bodies but filling them with professionals that will benefit the SkyWest culture. I'm sure you all want to be able to attract the best out there and not actually be like other outfits, to not name names, that only check your pulse and logbook for ATP mins.

It is all supply and demand. SKYW wasn't a dumpster fire either when they raised pay from $22 to $30 and eventually $36.50 or so... If there is a perceived need to increase competitiveness, I am sure rates will go up. Whether that is packaged as a straight raise, bonus or something else is really just packaging.

It's around 50-60 CRJ new hires a month and 30-40 ERJ new hires.
We are hiring 80-100 a month right now and have been doing it for a while.

I didn't mean to imply that was currently taking place, I recently interviewed, and the other applicants were great folks. It was more of a down the road issue, probably well down the road considering SkyWest's monopoly on west coast bases.
