It won't. He will be spending some quality time away, but there have been pilots that this has happened to that do fly again in the airlines.

One thing that hasn't been made clear is the procedure for holding a base. Once you are assigned or bid for and receive a base, is that where you can expect to stay until you bid out of it or can a more senior pilot bump you out?

It's yours as long as it stays open, you can't be bumped out.

That's great to know. Thank you for the quick response!

Stupid question...anyone know why DTW isn't on the FO job posting? I'm looking to start applying to regionals (1350+ hrs) and from northern Ohio. So if I'm aiming to stay local with a base, this kind of determines wether I should give Skywest a second look or not...

Don't know why it isn't there but it's def available if you want it

Is there a lot of flying out of DTW...and is it ramping up still?

Any idea on reserve length at DTW? Are based pilots getting a lot of logged time...or are they getting paid minimum guarantees?

Bend over, here it comes again

Right, that's pretty much what I got out of it. Does TTG ever write anything that actually communicates anything? It's like he has a shortcode in MS Word that strings together meaningless corporate platitudes in a random sequence and automatically sends them out once every so often.

Well perhaps, but I'll take him over RAH's Bedford any day!

You will have the opportunity to bid for bases during class regardless of whichever base is shown on the job posting. If you want DTW, you will get it.
