Again, I'm pretty sure they move you to single occupancy that way when you get the 4 am sim you're not waking your room mate. Don't get your hopes too high yet. You may have to spend some time in ORD...

As for the uniforms...
1) the crew outfitters pilot shirts are horrible, I had mine tailored and they still fit and feel awful. "A cut above" shirts are much better and if you know your fit, they will tailor them for you before they ship for $5 ish.
2) I agree with the other guy, most airlines you probably hope to go to have to wear the hat. If you want to wear it, wear it... you're not a tool, you're professional. But... if you buy it, make sure it fits, it shouldn't be so large your head sticks out the top and it rides on your ears when you put it on.
3) the trench coat they sell in class SUCKS. The leather jacket will run you $400+. Look elsewhere for winter jackets with shoulder straps. I found a better looking leather jacket with shoulder straps from Macy's for $170.
Goodluck!

I'm not sure if they'll give you the option to not buy uniforms but if so pass on everything except a tie, epaulettes, and a blazer. As stated already A Cut Above are the best shirts out there and depending on your build they can be custom tailored to your size. I personally buy my own pants from the mall, the uniform vendor pants never fit me correctly despite being measured. For me there's always way too much material and the groin is cut way too low, if they had a semi slim cut they'd be fine but ymmv. For the cooler months I'd highly recommend the artic sweater if you're planning on being based in the Midwest, it's a little pricey but definetly worth the money. IIRC I had to buy the hat because I ordered the blazer so you might be out of luck on that one and I definetly second the other poster about getting it sized correctly, it already looks funny on some people and it only looks worse when it's too big. The leather jacket with the thinsulate liner is pricey, but it's your only other option for when it's really cold out short of the trench coat. Hopefully that clears up some of the uniform questions.

And just a minor correction, you don't need to buy the hat if you get the blazer. If you buy the trench coat you are required to have the hat.

Certainly not saying they all are tools, but that's what it portrays. This is especially true if they're working with a CA not wearing the hat.
Sorry, but it's just the way it is with the hat being optional. Accept it or don't. This ain't Delta.

So let me get this straight. Captains and check airmen can wear hats but FO's shouldn't because it looks stupid if one crew member is not wearing a hat? That logic makes no sense IMHO.

Wearing a hat is a good way of letting everyone know exactly how pompous and arrogant you are before they get a chance to meet you.
If you are wearing a hat, then everyone knows from across the terminal what kind of person you are.
It saves time, really.
