Any insight on why no one was awarded PDX this time around? It went from 77 down to 70 on the FO side.

Quote: Well you seem to know it all already so I'm not going to go in circles with you!
Have you interviewed at Skywest or Endeavor yet?
Not sure what there is to go in circles about, we both agree that the pay at SkyWest is less than many competitors, but has good domiciles and a good reputation.

And yes, I have. I like SkyWest, and its one of my top choices. But I won't pretend that taking a pay cut would be fun. If they raised pay even $10k (still considerably less than competition) it'd be my choice, without a doubt. Junior ORD and flight benefits with the 3 legacies would be great.

Endeavor's a top choice too, but who wants to live in New York? Atlanta, on the other hand...

Quote: If you chose the 175 now you can still upgrade on the CRJ after your training freeze is over. Might be tough to upgrade on the CRJ having only flown the 175 though but it's been done before.
Is "training freeze" the same as "seat lock"? (Or, the two year period when you are locked into the same aircraft?)

During the interview, they told me if the captain upgrade dropped below the two year period on the CRJ side that ERJ FO's will have a chance to upgrade (from the ERJ to the CRJ) per their seniority (regardless of the plane they were flying) before the seat lock period was over.

Quote: I find this information is updated more often than the profiles page.

Pilot » SkyWest Airlines

If you go to seniority and ERJ on this page (you have to click some of the optional settings), it shows that SFO and ORD are the junior bases for FO's. LAX shows to be only one class behind those bases. PDX and DEN are the senior bases.
Thank you Breeze and others. Must be age getting the best of me but i wasn't able to find the seniority page. Sure it's in there somewhere.

I copied it from their website - the webpage isn't intuitive. For example, in the table below, the newest FO at LAX on the ERJ is 11-25-2016 and the newest Captain at LAX is 07-30-2012.

First Officer
Captain
LAX

11-25-2016
07-30-2012

PDX

09-15-2016
10-31-2011

SFO

12-16-2016
09-03-2012

DEN

08-18-2016
09-26-2010

ORD

12-30-2013

SEA

Quote: Thanks for the info. Can you elaborate on 'special rates for transportation workers'? I'm sure (hopefully) my accountant is familiar, and I'll speak to her more in-depth, just curious in pilot speak what that means?

Thanks!
The post above explained it well.
Airlinetaxprep dot com is a former SKYW guy.
There are several other that will also check your pier diem for free.

Just a quick correction on that. The guy that runs Airlinetaxprep is a good friend of mine and he still at SkyWest. I think you may have been thinking of a different guy/company (Watson).

From what I've found, without kids or a home...don't even bother trying to itemize (perdiem, etc).
Some perdiem services will give your money back if the standard deduction is still best if you want to try anyway.

Right on. Standard deduction for a single person is 6,300. That is a lot of per-diem "difference" to get to that number.

Remember, you can only deduct the difference between what the IRS allows and what was reimbursed.
