I suppose the answer that people are looking for is that you are accruing paid time during CTP, but you don't get your actual check until after you start your official ground school, and it's lumped in with what you're earning during indoc/systems etc.

Yeah just answering the question if you will be paid in CTP...which is no. For those who are worried your CTP and ground classes usually are close together so I wouldn't worry about it. My situation was different because of Christmas and they only had 1 December class. Skywest will pay you just after your come to ground.

So to clarify from previous messages, you don't get paid IN CTP but you get paid FOR CTP yes?

Entry-level 121 aviation (ie regional FO) is not, and has never been, a "real Job" from a compensation perspective. It's more like a paid internship. The pay is much higher than it was ten years ago (so is COL), but it's still more stipend than real compensation.
It's not going to allow a grown adult with family to live a normal life (unless you're in a really low COL localation). You must have a plan for that...sugar-momma, retirement from mil/LE, trust fund, ramen, mom's basement, living-in-a-van-down-by-the-river, etc. |

Disagree with you on that one - last time I checked 100k+ as a captain isn't scraping by. You can make as much or little as you want
Senior CA's are doing fine, assuming they have some work rules and job security (not all regionals do). |
I've been gone from OO nearly a year now but am curious about something: What's the latest outlook on the fleet there?
By now I am assuming most of the 100 E175 have been delivered, is that true? What's this I hear about the CRJ 2's being parked - sounds like the expressjet (ASA) side is getting screwed, but what about the skywest airlines side? I understood that a lot of the UA CRJ 7's came off contract but the company retained them elsewhere in the system. In a nut shell, if I were giving anyone guidance on what regional to pick, what is the fleet plan looking like in the next few years: Growth? Shrinkage? Status quo? |

Status quo? 200s are staying, I had MT in jump the other day and he reiterated that point. Expressjet is losing 50 seaters, believe somewhere near a 100 but their attrition is matching it. CRJ 700 from UA went to AA out of ORD. SkyWest is growing, I've heard they want pilot group at 4000-5000 and were at around 4100, we are investing in flight schools to help.with 4 partners and the capital / staffing to pick up more flying as other regionals can't keep up with commitments we are growing |
Closer to 4200 on the current size of the pilot group.

4172...to be exact.
