Have my interview coming up. Ejet or CRJ? And how long are people spending on reserve for the ejet.

Too broad of a question. Depends on where you live, depends on where you're based.

I am willing to move to where I am based. At the most junior base for the erj I believe it's Chicago do you know how long people are spending on reserve there?
I'm trying to find the pros and cons of choosing the ejet compared to the crj.

Any idea how much of an increase on the CA side?

About 5-10 lines. One new aircraft added. Corresponds to dvr for vacancies

Since it appears e-jet deliveries are going to slow down, does the decision also depend on how quickly one wants to make captain?

With the two year seat lock and sitting on reserve for one year in Chicago, it seems the best choice seems to be CRJ and then transition to the E-jet if you are still here after 4 years?

If you choose an airframe, it's 24 month seatlock. If you want the erj and they give it to without you asking for it, it's 12 months. Captain has no bearing on your initial equipment. You can go from crj fo to erj CA.

Isn't it just the seniority of those FO's making CA on the CRJ v the Ejet? The CRJ is under two years and heading south. And, once you upgrade to CA, is there not a new seat lock put into place?

Where you are based seems to make a big difference in how much a reserve FO flies... a FO in MSP on the CRJ mentioned he was only flying 35 hours per month on reserve.

Which jet an FO chooses seems to be a complicated by:
1. Where one wants to be based?
2. How much one wants to fly (do they want their 1,000 121 time in the fastest timeframe?)
3. How fast one wants to go from FO to CA (less than 2 years for CRJ and less than 3 years for Ejet)
4. What type of equipment one generally wants to fly?

The ERJ will always be longer to upgrade than CRJ in my opinion. It pays more and it's is a nicer plane, how much of a difference in time it will be no one can tell, right now it's a year and a half (enough time off reserve to get the 1000 tpic that a lot of places "prefer". Personally I'd rather upgrade on a plane I've been flying.

Just got called for IOE starting Friday. My wait was only 3 weeks on the CRJ...so it's going down..
