Starting with Indoc, what's the usual training schedule? M-F with every Sat and Sun off until Sims?

My interviewer said he had to fly off hours on his weekends off to hit 1500 before the sim check ride. I'm trying to figure out how much time I have.

Yes, Monday through Friday. If you can, show up not with all your flight hours and use all the weekends for studying.

I'd recommend using the weekend to chill the hell out and explore SLC (or wherever you are) otherwise you're gonna get burned out incredibly fast.

The instructors will tell you the same thing.

Go out Friday night, rest Saturday, and study Sunday was my groups schedule. Instructors even told us to go out Friday and put your books down lol

It really is true. I guess you don't HAVE to quit studying, but it is recommended. I liked that our class went out at least twice as a group for dinner on the weekend. We drank, talked, relaxed, got to know each other more, and overall it was a way to release.

Now if you go out after dinner, that's up to you. Some did some didn't. Overall, everyone did well and passed ground school with the exception of few. Those who didn't pass were not the ones who went out after dinner to party either. Study, but have fun while you are there. It really should and is an experience as a whole. Ground school was no light thing, but it was nice to meet people and hang out.

So is it common to not go home on the weekends during ground school? What about during sims?

Some people go home, some people don't. I feel like in sims, people were more likely to go home mainly because you got 3-5 days off between blocks of sim.

Almost nobody goes home during ground. Weekends aren't good non reving either. I would suggest against it but that's just my opinion. A few guys did and they made it. I had a couple in my class who struggled and even didn't make it and I wonder if that's why.

During sims like said before you'll have multiple days off to go home and you totally can like after your PV, MV, etc. After each check I had 3 days off.

I went home every weekend during ground school. I'd fly home Friday night and return Sunday midday. The silver bullet was, if I had gotten stranded with lousy loads, I could theoretically have driven 12 hours back to SLC. But with 3 major airports within an hour's drive of my house, there was always a way I could get back.

One cannot study for 25 days straight (indoc + systems). You'd go nuts.

During sims I couldn't possibly go home as sims were in ATL, on the other side of the country. And I never had more than 1 day off between sim blocks. Your mileage may vary, of course.
