ORD is easier if you're coming from DFW. DTW is also achievable, but there is less frequency of flights.

It's not bad. Just getting to and from the North Terminal and the Delta terminal is pretty annoying. Chicago has way more flights but more competition from other pilots as well.

Right now... 3-9 months depending...? I would guess. My class was the last one to get LAX out of training and that was a few months ago. The odds are not in your favor now.

I didn't accuse Skywest pilots of anything ..I said Skywest Inc..management not you guys..I have always been very cordial to pilots over the years..be it in hotel vans or when you guys have come for the jumpseat..it was not an attack on you..it was simply just to vent my displeasure at managements decision to slam the door on a great group of guys that have been doing this for a very long time. We got stranded at the regional level because of 9/11..the 08 meltdown and the age 65 thing. After all those years we became senior guys at a decent company. We make fair money, weekends off, holidays off, and decent vacation time. Thats where the apprehension to move on stems from. Again, it wasn't meant as an attack towards your pilot group.

I truly appreciate your dilemma. I think Inc. is simply trying to figure out how to make ASA/Xjet work. From someone who recently joined the industry, when I was looking at regionals, there was nothing about ASA/Xjet that would appeal to a new pilot: The fleet is shrinking. Upgrades take forever. In the annual report, the bean counters show a loss.
It is obvious to those on the inside and the outside (with their eyes open) that things are not well at ASA/Xjet.
Given the history of SKW, I don't think Inc. will just shut the doors on ASA/Xjet until contracts can't be obtained. Inc. will continue to look for a formula that works for ASA/Xjet given its realities, including what the bean counters say and it's inability to recruit FO's. There is no reason to operate a subsidiary in the same way that shows a loss.
My recommendation for ASA/Xjet pilots is simple, and in this order: 1) jump to the majors 2) move to SKW and be at the bottom (rumors a CA based in DTW did that for QOL and made CA here within a year) 3) leave to another regional if you can't stomach SKW 4) wait and just continue to be unhappy.

The reason for the pushback is that SKW pilots don't normally complain about Inc. here. And, the complaints here are trivial compared to what you are encountering.

It appears to me that Inc. has tried a lot to make it work. I know the ASA/Xjet pilots don't see it that way and think Inc. must be lying.
If I was an ASA/Xjet pilot and I was living in base with a good QOL, I would have a hard time making a change until I was forced to, unless I was going to a major.
If I lived in base and my job was moving to NYC, I would make a switch now to a different regional and try to maintain QOL - knowing there are quick upgrades in nearly every other viable regional.
I find it pathetic to work for an airline that you despise. Yet, so many pilots do.

Do soft landers get health insurance day 1 or are they subject to the wait period like a brand new person?
