I have never heard of Level D sims being added to total time. It goes in the Sim column and that's it. You can use that simulator time to meet up to a certain amount of hours (can't remember off he top of my head) of the total time requirement toward your ATP, but it still is not logged as total time.

That does not mean it IS flight time, and certainly does not mean it gets logged as flight time.

I concur. I logged it as sim time and counted it toward the 50hr class requirement on the 8710. There is a box for multi SIM. Do not log as multi engine flight time or total time. Fed was at my LOE and it raised no eyebrows.

Level-D sim time can be counted towards total time. You'll be able to use 25 towards your ATP. All my sims from training were logged under multi, sim, total (as stated above)....but I needed them for the checkride.

Agreed. The 1,500 hours may be reduced up to 100 hours by Sim time. Was simply responding to the point that someone didn't know the maximum amount of sim time that could be counted in that reduction.
