I would vote in a union the first chance I have! The PPM is a joke! A new hire was "released" for failing their final sim ride, sure it's not for everyone. But the student pleaded to have a sim during normal hours claiming they were fatigued by having to be in the sim from 22:00 to 02:00, fell on deaf ears.
That's not even permissible, at Republic, to train or check during those hours. Written in a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT! Oh, enjoy the 4am stuff too! |

I actually bid for the 4am stuff and I like it.
No FAA... Also SKW seemed to give the people with a good attitude a lot of "do overs." Bad attitude, not so much... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Definitely more to the story.

I had the 8 pm - 2 am shift for new hire sims and it was pretty chill. |

Then for their sake they better hope that when a vote does take place, they have classes full of all impressionable young minds and not experienced people from a union regional via soft landing 2.0.
To answer the next inevitable question: Why would they leave their union regional to Skywest if they loved it so much? Imagine union regional X goes under. Disgruntled but experienced pilots have many options of other regionals to go to. Reluctantly they choose Skywest, not because they want to come here (they really would rather have a union, and possibly also loathe Inc already) but because they can pick up where they left off at 8 years on the pay scale and a quick upgrade. |

Most of the guys that I have flown with that came from a union carrier want nothing more to do with a union. Most of the most vocal union supporters I have seen are those who, you might say, have other issues and I'll just leave it at that.

I agree with you. But the other guy has a point. The main thing is. There is not a "severe" enough gap between us and the union airlines...
I know it's true but it's too bad so many pilots look at a union only as a means to close that gap in the next negotiating round. |
