I know it's true but it's too bad so many pilots look at a union only as a means to close that gap in the next negotiating round.

Think the majority know it would stall things out for years.. so thats the take what we get, and move on mentally...

Why would anyone assume that it would stall things out for yours? It's not like you don't have a five year deal already anyway. If that was the fear, then now is the time to do it so that five years later, you are ready for the next deal. Regardless, there are always MOUs, LOAs, and side letters between all contracts. There never is any stalling when business keeps moving forward.

jumpseat on your own metal ( unable)

today I tried to jumpseat to SLC, but a LC captain was listed there already, so I was giving low priority on our own metal ( Alaska tail) so I got bypass from a Alaska pilot..

my question is, are we the bottom of the barrel when we fly an Alaska tail on our own metal ? gate agent said, Alaska Pilots come first on our own metal..

any one wants to chime in ?

Are you "Alaska dedicated" base and equipment??? AKA E175 PDX/SEA?

Basicly.. Dedicated employees have priority on SKYW operated flights. Non-dedicated are behind AS employees.

We all ways have jumpseat priority... Unless there is a line check going on as you mentioned above...

Where in the SOP is that?

It originally came from a WWI era Army Signal Corp guide for the Curtis Jenny. Still practical for ligth GA airplanes, but not so much for big planes. I think Southwests SOP simply states that taxi speed shall be less than V1.

Did the AS pilot use a "confirmed" pass??
Unfortunately they are handing them out like candy now.. just like UA "Vacation" passes. And commuters are using them not for vacation....
