and before we hear anyone say “I thought we were running classes of 60???” this class was always slated to be small. 2/8’s class is only slated to be 18. Then all remaining classes (26 scheduled mar-dec) are all in the 30-60 range.

Also important to note that 11 January was an added class. We still have another class starting 24 January.

This class was a last minute add due to the last minute purchase of 2 aircraft. There will be a class of 30-35 on January 25th. A small class in February, then 3 classes in March.

New hires bid in the first vacancy that takes effect after they finish class and IOE. We do one vacancy bid a month usually. When they finish training, scheduling builds them a line out of uncovered trips(?), usually out of the base of their choice to finish the month. Then when they get to the vacancy month they bid and got awarded (first one any of the classes bid for is March) they go there and get a hard line for their first month. After that, it’s whatever they can hold. since we’re hiring so many there’s a good chance they’ll start to flow to other bases quickly. Hope that makes sense.
But yeah, it’ll be LAX or OAK for the first few classes (my guess) until all the displacements are unwound.

Current flight instructors who are already employees of Southwest Airlines are being moved to the SWAPA seniority list but keeping their role as Flight Instructors.

You sure about that? How does an aircraft purchase correlate to an already undermanned pilot group? I was told it was to fill up a requal class. Not to argue the point either way. But, I know some folks and do some things around there.

the seniority list shows a bunch of new hires starting 1/11 with 150k employee numbers. Those aren’t requals

Not sure if this is 100% the correct place to post this, but here goes. I’m posting this here because SWA is a top choice for me among major airlines to eventually be at. Base wise and company wise AA, and SWA are my two “dream” places barring I get a call (or flow).
Right now I am an FO at an American WO (PSA) and have been here for a little under a year. I am 21 with a R-ATP until I’m 23. Not because of hours/flight time, but just because of age. I have roughly a year and some change before I’ll be 23, and I know that most legacies want 23 and Unrestricted ATP.
My question is when is a good time to start putting applications out, specifically at SWA? And, if I were to get a call as an FO, how long is the interview/application process? I’m trying to be on top of the game and get an idea so I definitely appreciate the help!
